Join Fauna Smart Technologies ApS – a Copenhagen-based, ESA-awarded company turning science into smart farming 🌱
We are looking for a Remote Sensing Engineer to join our European Space Agency (ESA) project application — submission on 31st October — and continue with us into implementation (2025/2026).
🌍 About Us: For the past five years, we’ve been awarded and funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) for developing remote-sensing-based solutions that help growers and foresters detect and prevent pest and disease outbreaks before they become visible.
Our Early Warning Prediction and Prevention Platform empowers horticulture and forestry professionals to make data-driven, sustainable decisions. Recognized by the European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC) with three awards (2022–2023), we’re now expanding this innovation to vineyards — one of the most sensitive and climate-challenged ecosystems to cultivate.
🍇 The Mission: We are developing an Early Warning Prediction and Prevention Platform for Vineyards, designed to provide real-time risk assessment and guidance through layered technologies:
🗺️ Pest Risk Map — Diagnostics powered by satellite imagery (Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, Sentinel-3, PlanetScope, SkySat), identifying in-field risk zones
📚 Knowledge Database — AI-driven recommendations that connect satellite-derived risk patterns with actionable, field-based solutions.
📖 Digital Field Book — Digital documentation of sustainable practices, providing evidence of responsible land management and green-transition compliance.
🌿 CO₂ Points (Future Feature) — Tokenization of sustainable practices, helping growers quantify their regenerative impact.
💻 Your Role: As a Remote Sensing Engineer, you will:
Design and process satellite data pipelines (Sentinel / PlanetScope / SkySat)
Develop algorithms for vegetation and canopy stress detection
Integrate geospatial layers into Fauna’s Pest Risk Map and AI analytics
Collaborate closely with agronomists, AI programmers, and field researchers
Contribute to the ESA proposal (deadline 31 October) and to the project’s technical implementation in 2025
🎯 Requirements:
Strong experience with remote sensing, satellite data, and image analysis
Proficiency in Python, Google Earth Engine, and/or GIS platforms
Familiarity with vegetation indices, NDVI/NDWI time series, and crop stress detection
Interest in applying remote sensing to agriculture, viticulture, or forestry
Eagerness to work in interdisciplinary teams
Applicant must be residing in Denmark (required for eligibility under ESA call)
Availability to join immediately for proposal preparation
🌱 We Offer:
Opportunity to co-develop a funded ESA project
Work alongside an award-winning, cross-disciplinary European team
A bridge between space technology, AI, and plant science
Collaboration with leading Danish growers and European partners
Flexible, hybrid setup (Copenhagen / remote in Denmark)
📅 Timeline:
ESA proposal submission: 31 October 2025
Project start: December 2025 / January 2026
If this sounds like your kind of challenge — reach out immediately! Time is short, but the mission is bold.
Let’s make Danish vineyards thrive — from satellites to soil. 🍇🛰️
