Founded in 2024, we're building the next generation of AI-first core accounting software. Our dream is to make it much easier to run a small business with our self-driving bookkeeping solution. We are live with our Private Beta, the first 20 companies are onboarded, and our waitlist is 250+ companies long. Having raised a pre-seed round from top-tier investors, we're ready to accelerate and migrate more businesses to Numina. While our team is small, we come with experience from building recognized scale-ups like Pleo and Weld. You'll work directly with the co-founders, helping us build the technical foundation of Numina from the ground up.

The Role 👀

As our first dedicated AI Engineer, you won't just be working on AI features; you'll be the architect of the core intelligence that powers our AI workflows. We’re looking for a pilot, not a passenger—someone intrinsically driven and excited by the prospect of building our "self-driving" engine from scratch. This is a role for an engineer who masters the balance between cutting-edge AI and practical, scalable implementation. You will have a huge impact on our product, our architecture, and our company's success.

What You'll Do 💻

• Build our AI Core: You will design, build, and deploy the end-to-end AI systems that automate bookkeeping. This includes data extraction from documents, transaction categorization, and intelligent financial reconciliation.

• Work with LLMs: You will be responsible for building and fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs) and implementing techniques like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to solve complex accounting challenges.

• Own the AI Infrastructure: You will choose, implement, and maintain the infrastructure for our AI models, including vector databases, model serving pipelines, and monitoring tools.

• Integrate & Ship: You’ll collaborate closely with our full-stack team to seamlessly integrate AI capabilities into our user-facing application (built on TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL).

• Evaluate & Iterate: You will establish frameworks for evaluating model performance, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness, constantly iterating to improve the intelligence of our platform.

Bonus Points If You ✨

• Have experience building and maintaining MLOps or RAG pipelines in a cloud environment.

• Are familiar with TypeScript and Node.js, as you'll be integrating with our main application stack.

• Have experience in or an interest in FinTech, accounting, or building B2B SaaS products.
