WHY this role exists?
The new Lead Designer will be the central connector between commercial/product teams and development. Sets direction for product design, owns the Figma Design System, and builds product design culture at Inpay. You are the design playmaker, making design decisions that stick and creating the processes that make good design repeatable.
WHAT you'll own?
Design System Leadership
Own and evolve the Inpay Design System in Figma as the single source of truth
Establish design standards that scale across products and teams
Create systematic approaches to component libraries, tokens, and documentation
Strategic Design Direction
Define product design strategy aligned with business objectives and customer needs
Partner with commercial and product teams to translate vision into user experiences
Champion user-centered design in all product decisions
Team Building & Leadership
Build and lead an internal design team that embodies Inpay values
Mentor designers and establish design craft standards
Create processes that integrate design seamlessly with development workflows
Cross-functional Partnership
Serve as the design voice in leadership discussions
Bridge communication between commercial, product, and engineering teams
Establish design reviews and approval processes that teams actually follow
HOW you'll succeed?
Design Excellence
Expert-level Figma proficiency with deep understanding of design systems
5+ years of design experience with focus on B2B/fintech products
Proven track record of scaling design operations in growth-stage companies
Strong portfolio demonstrating systematic thinking and strategic design impact
Experience with agile development processes and design handoffs
Knowledge of Jira and development workflow tools
Leadership & Collaboration
Experience building and leading design teams (3+ designers)
Exceptional communication skills with ability to influence without authority
Track record of partnering effectively with product managers and engineers
Strategic Mindset
Understanding of business metrics and how design drives commercial outcomes
Experience with B2B/fintech products preferred
Ability to balance user needs with technical constraints and business goals
