Self® is on a mission to bring wellness and massage to every body — literally. Our non-human masseuse delivers high-quality, consistent, and affordable massage experiences that never get tired or distracted.
After four years of R&D, we’ve built a cutting-edge massage robot to revolutionize workplace and fitness-based wellbeing. We recently signed a major deal with a high-end fitness chain in London, kicking off our UK expansion. Backed by strategic London-based VCs and prominent angel investors, we’re laser-focused on making robotic wellness the new standard.
Next up: scaling across the UK in 2026, then Canada and the U.S. in 2027. Our long-term vision is global — wellness on demand, powered by robotics.
We’re looking for a Robotics Developer who’s excited to get hands-on with hardware, edge devices, and distributed IoT systems. You’ll own the software that powers our robots — from low-level control to deployment pipelines and on-device intelligence.
You’ll work closely with our senior robotics advisors and collaborate with hardware, product, and cloud engineers to make our robot safe, reliable, and delightful to use.
This is a rare opportunity to join early, shape the technical direction, and see your code run on real machines helping real people.
Develop and deploy software to distributed robotic devices.
Integrate and orchestrate key system components:
Robot control & motion
Safety & system reliability
Networking & remote updates
Optional: perception & computer vision
Build Linux-based environments for production robots.
Prototype, test, and iterate quickly — in gyms, offices, and real customer spaces.
Contribute to architecture decisions and future-proof the stack.
Languages: Python or Go (must be great at one)
Core: Linux, Docker, MQTT/IoT frameworks
Plus: C++, computer vision, distributed systems, hardware integration
Hands-on approach to real-world testing and iteration.
Collaborative and pragmatic mindset; comfortable in a startup environment.
Eagerness to grow into a larger AI ownership role over time.
Able to travel regularly to London, UK.
Open to work on-call shifts (additional pay)
Experience with vision or motion capture systems.
Familiarity with 3D surface mapping or multi-camera fusion.
Experience working across Windows and Linux platforms.
Exposure to UI tools.
Background in ML-based CV tasks (e.g. segmentation, pose models, object tracking).
Interest in wellness tech, human-centered design, or robotics.
Equity in a fast-growing wellness & robotics startup
A collaborative, impact-driven team culture
Flexible hours and hybrid/remote work options
A clear growth path to Head of Robotics, or Lead AI Engineer as we scale our visual data and learning capabilities
The rare opportunity to build something truly novel, from the ground up
