Normative is now looking for a Engineering Manager for our team in Stockholm

Normative helps companies to understand and reduce their carbon footprints towards their journey to Net Zero. We do this through science-based carbon accounting products and tailored advice from net zero experts. What we do has a real positive impact on the climate - you can too!

We are now looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented engineers across two product domains.

As an Engineering Manager at Normative, you’ll lead by example: hands-on in tech decisions when needed while guiding a talented team of software and sustainability engineers. You’ll architect and deliver solutions that process vast amounts of sustainability data, drive technical excellence, and help shape the future of carbon accounting. Your role is to lead a team that can operate with high velocity — deploying continuously, learning fast, and iterating is the most effective way to create impact. This is a role for someone who loves to build, mentor, and scale both people and systems.

What you will do:

  • Run and inspire a high-velocity high-quality engineering team, developing great features that scale

  • Lead two of our core product teams; empower other product teams to effectively interact with and integrate data within their domains

  • Be a critical part of bringing AI / LLM at the heart of our product and practices to allow engineers to focus on high value tasks

  • Lead architecture discussions and be part of the team that makes key technical decisions for scaling complex data systems.

  • Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, and data integrity across the team.

  • Foster a healthy, efficient, and inclusive team culture where people can thrive and deliver impact. Collaborate closely with Product and Design to deliver value quickly and reliably.

  • Review code, provide feedback, and mentor engineers at all levels.

  • Champion best practices in software development, data engineering, and continuous improvement.

Our Technology set up:
  • Sustainability, Calculation & AI services: Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, pandas, numpy, SQLite.

  • All other Backend services: Typescript, Node.js, NestJS.

  • Database: PostgreSQL

  • Frontend: Svelte

  • Hosting & deployment: AWS, Terraform, CI/CD using GitHub Actions.

  • Other key technologies: Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Redis, BigQuery

What you bring:

  • Focus on output and impact over admin and bureaucracy

  • Experience leading cross functional software engineering teams in a fast paced, delivery focused environment. Preferably from a SaaS environment.

  • Strong technical background with significant practical experience in software development - ideally across the full stack, and bonus if has experience with design system.

  • Hands on leadership, communication and team-building skills.

  • The ability to build, grow and engage engineering teams through the day to day work.

  • Strong product and business mindset, coupled with a get-things-done attitude.

Location

Normative operates on a hybrid remote model with offices in Stockholm and London. For this role you will be located in our wonderful HQ in Stockholm 3 days per week to stay close to the teams as well as the wider leadership group with R&D.

Working at
Normative

Our Mission: Normative is here to make known and reduce the sustainability impact of all economic activities on the planet. We provide science-based carbon accounting software and tailored advice from net zero experts, enabling companies to reduce their carbon footprints. Our Story: Normative is rooted in climate research. In 2013, co-founder Kristian Rönn was working at Oxford University, simulating the consequences of climate change. The results showed that global warming would cause extreme human suffering, motivating Kristian to leave academia and take action. He joined forces with Adam Wamai Egesa and Robin Undall-Behrend, and in 2014 the world’s first carbon accounting engine was born to help humanity achieve net zero emissions and reverse the trajectory of climate change. We now have offices in Stockholm, Copenhagen, and London, and are actively hiring talent to join the mission. Today, companies from around the world trust our carbon accounting engine to help them reduce their carbon footprint. We partner with leading climate change organisations including the UN, to deliver actionable sustainability intelligence and have received a grant from Google. We are backed by some of the world’s most significant climate investors, and are the official software provider for the UN-backed SME Climate Hub initiative through which thousands of small businesses have committed to net zero. Our Team: We are a global team working to solve a global problem. We’re headquartered in Stockholm, with offices in Copenhagen and London as well as remote team members located all over the world. We have spoken at the World Economic Forum, consulted the European Commission, and worked with the United Nations to develop a new standard for emissions accounting. We come from many walks of life, but we’re united in one mission: to help humanity achieve net zero emissions. Every employee at Normative plays a valuable role in reducing business carbon emissions.
