Are you a curious and resourceful developer looking to explore what it’s really like to build software for real users — not just for school projects?
We’re looking for a Programming Intern to join us at BirdsAtFive, where we’re building Birdie — an AI-powered platform for B2B marketing teams.
This isn’t a "watch-and-learn" type internship. You’ll take ownership of projects, move fast, and contribute directly to building and shaping our product.
Most of your work will focus on rapid prototyping — short 1–2 week sprints where you’ll test out new ideas, small tools, or proof-of-concepts. But since we’re a small startup, you’ll also get involved in backend programming, testing, and research — all the technical work that helps us move forward.
If you want to be a software engineer and are excited by the idea of building, experimenting, and taking responsibility, this role is for you.
Work directly with the founders to prototype new product ideas
Build standalone mini-tools, web apps, or MVPs to test specific hypotheses
Take on ad-hoc technical tasks such as backend development, testing, and research
Help us figure out things like:
Would users actually use this AI feature?
Is this layout more intuitive?
What happens when we add this new input method?
Run projects in focused 1–2 week sprints, inspired by Google Sprint & Lean Startup methodology
Use whatever lightweight tools get the job done — React, Flask, Python, AI agents, or even no-code when appropriate
Present your builds and findings to the team and participate in feedback sessions
Contribute to real product development alongside experiments
A student (bachelor’s or master’s) in software development or computer science or similar
Strong generalist developer skills — you can build simple apps, fast, on your own
Knowledge of JavaScript, Python, or similar — and a willingness to experiment
Comfortable using AI tools (e.g. OpenAI APIs, N8N, small LLM agents) or excited to learn
A self-starter — you’re not afraid to explore vague ideas and turn them into something real
Someone who wants to become a software engineer and is serious about building
Excited about the idea of testing and validating ideas in a real startup
Bonus: You’ve built something on your own before (a side project, a tool, anything really)
Most internships are about learning how to fit into a company. This one is about learning how to build something people want.
You’ll:
Work closely with the founders and CTO
Be trusted to lead small projects from start to finish
Take on real engineering work, not just side tasks
Learn how to validate product ideas through experiments
Gain exposure to both product strategy and technical execution
Explore what it’s like to work in a high-speed startup setting
Paid internship (part-time or full-time depending on your studies)
Work from our office in Copenhagen, with some flexibility
Duration: 3–6 months or ongoing student assistant position
Start date is flexible — we’re collecting interest now
Send us a short note about yourself and something you’ve built (or wanted to build). Code, links, or rough prototypes are all welcome. We’d love to meet you.
