Are you an ambitious student looking to build a career at the overlap of manufacturing engineering and software? Are you excited about the Industry 4.0 and expanding digitalization of manufacturing? Do you want to learn how to build factory ready AI solutions and apply both your mechanical engineering and computer science skills? Than this might be an opportunity you have been waiting for.
Main scope of the project is to develop a prototype of an advanced digital twin of a material removal procedure, using sensor fusion, 3D scanning, computer vision (CV) and advanced software post-processing. The project would be organized as follows:
Introduction to Calibras & to the working framework
Literature study & analysis of existing results
Extrapolation of sensor data from the machining processes – Python based data visualization
3D scanning of the test parts & CV dimensional measurements
Material removal model generation
Testing, iteration, improvement
The project is envisioned as an unpaid internship (however, a monetary compensation/reward is possible for exceptional performance), lasting 1 – 3 months (exceptionally), with the goal of upgrading to a part-time student job.
Calibras digitalizes Manufacturing & Quality Control workflows. We are a software solution provider, focused on manufacturing industry, where actively develop and deploy MES systems, 3D and 2D measurement & process monitoring AI solutions, SPC automation and various multimodal Data Science & RAG pipelines, all integrated into the end customers factory and laboratory framework.
Our customers range from deep-tech scale-ups, 3D printing factories and pharmaceutical manufacturing companies, providing you with a host of options to develop both your engineering and academic skill set, as well as to broaden your network. We are a small team that puts a high emphasis on personal responsibility and flexibility, adapting a hybrid working model. Although we are a startup, we proud ourselves in some more classical sections of our engineering DNA, such as maintenance of detailed project documentation and internal processes, so you can expect that you will be mentored and supported in your task.
An ideal candidate would have a manufacturing background and skills in one or more programming languages (Python preferred). Given the nature of Calibras’ usual projects, interest in industrial IoT & industrial CV, FreeCad, CadQuery & geometry processing, would also be appreciated for future development. Finally, and most importantly, desire for learning and personal development in the field of manufacturing software.
Optional application requirements:
Short CV
Project portfolio
Brief introduction / cover letter
We are looking forward to hearing from you!
