Ready to turn classroom skills into code that connects people? BuddyUp Social is a fast-growing Danish startup on a mission to combat loneliness and make it easier to meet new people through shared interests and local events. We’re looking for a Front-End Developer Intern – ideally with experience in Flutter – who’s eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a platform with real social impact.
You’ll work directly with our experienced CTO, gaining hands-on mentorship while helping shape the look and feel of our app as we scale. Whether you're passionate about tech, human connection, or both – we welcome applicants of all backgrounds.
Support the transition of our front end into Flutter, helping set the foundation for scalable and maintainable code
Optimise existing features and develop new user-facing functionality that enhances the social experience
Work closely with our UX designer to bring new visuals and interactive elements to life in the app
Collaborate with the team to create our own fun, engaging in-app widget character (think the Duolingo bird – but make it BuddyUp!)
Participate in feature planning, provide technical input, and contribute to building a friendly and accessible social platform
Learn and grow through direct mentorship from our CTO, with the opportunity to explore areas beyond front-end depending on your interests
Some hands-on experience with Flutter, or a strong interest in learning it quickly
Familiarity with mobile app development principles and responsive UI/UX
A collaborative mindset – you're open to feedback, communicate clearly, and enjoy working in a startup team environment
Interest in working with APIs and third-party integrations (e.g. Firebase, Google Maps, Meta, or Stripe)
Comfortable using GitHub for version control and code collaboration
Exposure to project management tools like Trello and communication tools like Slack or Google Meet
Bonus if you’re familiar with Figma or enjoy translating designs into polished UI
A portfolio, GitHub link, or small code sample is appreciated – or you’re happy to complete a short task with us
Close mentorship from our experienced CTO and co-founder, who brings over 20 years of hands-on tech and startup experience
Real responsibility – the code you write will shape live features and directly impact how people connect and build friendships
A supportive, purpose-driven environment where your ideas are valued, and you’ll be encouraged to work independently and contribute improvements
A flexible work setup – fully remote is totally fine, with the option to co-work with the team in Copenhagen when available
A written reference and the potential for the internship to evolve into a paid role if there’s a strong match
This is an unpaid internship
Duration and start date will be agreed upon together (eight-week minimum preferred)
You will work on your own PC or Mac (we do not supply computers)
You must have the right to work in Denmark
Please apply as soon as possible, as applications and interviews are ongoing.
If you have questions or need more information, reach out via email. We look forward to seeing what you can build with us.
