We are looking for a Quantum Software Engineer to strengthen our multi-site software engineering team!

As member of this team, you will be a key contributor in building and defining new features to our software stack. Our mission is to enable the use of quantum computing to solve practical computational tasks for our customers.

To succeed in the role, we expect you to know the area of quantum computing well (theory or experiments), and to have some professional software development experience in creating and maintaining released software products as a member of the team.

Readiness for teamwork and collaborating constructively with other physicists and engineers is key. We also expect you to make sound technical decisions that will have a big impact on IQM’s success.


What will I be doing?

  • Developing, testing, and creating documentation around the Qrisp quantum programming framework.
  • Implementing quantum algorithms, error correction protocols, compiler infrastructure and optimizing the performance of the components involved.
  • Gathering feedback from the open-source community and IQM algorithm engineers for continuous improvement of the Qrisp compiler.
  • Creating educational materials such as programming tutorials or lecture slides.
  • Planning the features and the architecture of our software as member of the team.
  • Communicating and planning the details of the products and gathering requirements for the software.
  • Maintaining and extending existing features.


What skills do I need?

  • M.Sc or Ph.D. in physics, computer science, electrical engineering, or similar field.
  • Professional software development experience.
  • Professional experience with quantum computation.
  • Experience in quantum programming frameworks such as Qiskit, Cirq, QuTIP, Qrisp or similar tools

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in quantum algorithms and/or quantum error correction.
