As a Senior Backend Engineer in our start-up you'll own and evolve our backend architecture, ensuring optimal performance and scalability for our frontend and AI layers. You'll maintain and extend our backend APIs and architect and optimize our MongoDB data structures and queries. You will also build and maintain our AWS infrastructure with robust CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate closely with the rest of the product team.

What You Will Be Doing
- Be part of a growing, fast paced startup where your work has immediate impact.
- Own and evolve our backend architecture, from API design to database performance - serving both our frontend and AI-driven algorithmic layer.
- Continuously improve how we structure, store, and query data in MongoDB to optimize both speed and cost.
- Help us scale up our AWS-based infrastructure setting up robust CI/CD pipelines and ensuring secure, seamless communication between services.
- Collaborate closely with our Product team, contributing to a high-performance, high-quality development culture through regular feedback and code reviews.
- Be a part of the ideation process with our AI & Data engineer for developing new algorithms.
What You're Good At
- Excellent understanding of building and maintaining RESTful APIs using TypeScript (or similar backend languages).
- Significant experience in designing NoSQL data models and writing complex queries, ideally in MongoDB or a similar database.
- Hands-on experience scaling and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions), automated testing, and deployment workflows.
- Comfortable working with algorithmic codebases and data processing logic (e.g. in Python or similar).
Ideally you also have
- Previous experience in a startup, scale-up, or small-team environment.
- Deep knowledge of MongoDB Atlas scaling strategies and advanced aggregation pipelines.
- Familiarity with NestJS framework.
- Experience integrating Stripe Webhooks or similar payment systems.
- Experience with managing large scale serverless deployments such as AWS Lambda.
