Senior DevOps Engineer

Salary Competitive

WHO WE ARE:

Heimdall Power is a fast-growing Norwegian tech company established in 2016. We have global ambitions and are already present in several European countries as well as the US and Asia. We provide solutions to optimize power grids worldwide, promoting a swift, secure, and affordable transition to green energy. Our unique offering combines software and sensors to increase grid capacity and monitor asset health. By enabling the more efficient use of existing infrastructure, we reduce carbon footprints while creating value for society, industry, and our shareholders.

THE POSITION:

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of the infrastructure and automation that power Heimdall Power's grid operations platform—across both our Azure-based cloud services and customer-hosted deployments.

You'll build on a solid foundation and help evolve our CI/CD pipelines, observability stack (including Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope), and Kubernetes-based runtime. You'll also contribute to a secure, repeatable deployment model for customer-hosted environments. While we do not operate these directly, we provide the packaged software and automation required for customers to run our platform independently.

This role requires a strong awareness of cloud security, network architecture, and data residency, as our platform supports critical infrastructure in regulated markets. You'll work closely with the security team to ensure deployment practices meet relevant standards.

You'll join a team that values clarity, simplicity, and long-term maintainability. We work from a monorepo, use shared tooling and infrastructure-as-code, and emphasize good architecture and developer experience. Your work will directly support operational excellence and enable meaningful outcomes for power grid utilities worldwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • CI/CD & Automation: Own and evolve our CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, reliable, and repeatable deployments
  • Infrastructure as Code: Manage our Azure infrastructure using IaC, with clear environments and version control
  • Kubernetes Operations: Operate and optimize our containerized services in Kubernetes
  • Observability: Improve system monitoring and performance visibility using the Grafana stack (Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope, k6)
  • Customer Environment Delivery: Package and standardize software for secure, repeatable deployment by customers in their own environments
  • Security & Compliance: Work together with our security team to ensure that infrastructure and deployment practices meet relevant security standards and data residency requirements
  • Operational Readiness: Contribute to deployment tooling, secrets management, backup/disaster recovery practices, and system hardening
  • Collaboration: Work closely with backend engineers and product team to ensure infrastructure supports evolving needs
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements across tooling, performance, security, and developer experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Solid experience working with Azure infrastructure and platform services
  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code
  • Experience operating containerized services in Kubernetes
  • Strong skills in CI/CD systems and automation
  • Good understanding of networking, cloud security principles, and data residency constraints in regulated environments
  • Bonus: Experience delivering software to customer environments or edge/on-prem systems
  • Bonus: Experience with packaging tools like Helm, Docker, or automated installers

SKILLS:

  • High sense of ownership and ability to work independently
  • Passion for clean infrastructure, secure automation, and simple operational flows
  • Pragmatic problem-solver with a focus on reliability and maintainability
  • Comfortable navigating the space between software development and operations
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Interest in energy tech, grid systems, and real-world impact

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Competitive compensation package
  • An energetic and dynamic work environment
  • A chance to work with top-tier technology and contribute directly to the green transition on a global scale
  • Professional Development: We strongly believe in the growth and development of our employees. At Heimdall Power, you will be given the necessary tools to grow as a person and a professional
  • Work-life balance: We offer flexible working conditions, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life

At Heimdall Power, you will help build the infrastructure and automation behind software that matters. If you're a senior engineer passionate about reliability, clean systems, and making an impact through technology—we'd love to hear from you.

Working at
Heimdall Power

In Norse mythology, Heimdall is the all-seeing, all-knowing watchman who guards Asgard, the home of the gods. He possesses extraordinary abilities to see for hundreds of miles, hear the faintest of sounds, and stands vigilant at the Bifrost, the rainbow bridge connecting Asgard to the world of mortals, ready to sound the Gjallarhorn at the first sign of danger. Much like the mythical guardian, Heimdall Power ensures the safety and efficiency of power grids. Founded in Norway in 2016, we provide accurate, cost-effective monitoring of both grid capacity and health. We achieve this through advanced grid-enhancing technologies, combining world-leading sensors (Neurons) and software (Heimdall’s Brain) to optimize the performance and reliability of energy networks. Our unique autonomous drone installation system facilitates safe, quick, and scalable deployment worldwide. With our help, grid operators can unlock up to 40% more capacity in their high-voltage power grids while simultaneously improving operational safety. Our technology equips you to meet the increasing demand for electricity while reducing the need for expensive infrastructure upgrades.
