Self® is on a mission to bring wellness and massage to every body—literally. Our non-human masseuse delivers high-quality, consistent, and affordable massages that never get tired, distracted, or make awkward small talk.
After four years of intensive R&D, we’ve developed a cutting-edge massage robot designed to revolutionize workplace and fitness-based wellbeing. We just signed a major deal with a high-end fitness chain in London, marking a pivotal moment for our commercial rollout.
2025 is all about scaling in the UK, starting in London and expanding nationally. Backed by strategic London-based VCs and prominent angel investors, we are laser-focused on establishing our leadership in the UK wellness robotics market.
Looking ahead, we’re gearing up to launch in Canada and the U.S. in 2026, while also preparing to reopen business activities in Scandinavia. Our long-term vision is to make on-demand, tech-powered massage a global workplace standard—blending wellness, automation, and impact.
With a tight-knit team including a robotics professor, hardware engineers, cloud developers, and experienced product leaders, we’re building something few others dare to attempt.
We’re looking for a Computer Vision Engineer with at least 3 years of experience to help us bring visual intelligence into our massage robot platform. You’ll develop perception systems that allow our robot to understand human bodies, adapt to different surfaces, and operate safely in real-world environments.
You’ll work closely with our Robotics Engineer—who leads the control stack—and collaborate with hardware, product, and software teammates to build seamless, responsive systems. While this role is focused on computer vision and machine learning, there’s a clear path to grow into a lead role in AI, as we start to leverage our body scan data for long-term learning and personalization.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll own your deliverables, influence design decisions, and see your work in action—literally touching people’s lives.
Develop and integrate computer vision systems using RGB and depth cameras.
Implement body detection, segmentation, and pose estimation pipelines.
Help calibrate and synchronize multiple sensors for robust surface and spatial understanding.
Collaborate with robotics, product, and hardware teams to ensure end-to-end performance.
Test and iterate CV features in real-world settings (gyms, offices, etc.).
Contribute to early-stage ML-based perception features.
Grow into future ownership of AI/data pipelines as the product matures.
3+ years of experience in computer vision or machine learning for perception.
Solid experience with OpenCV, depth/RGB cameras, and basic ML tools.
Strong Python and C++ skills (bonus for C# or Qt).
Hands-on approach to real-world testing and iteration.
Collaborative and pragmatic mindset; comfortable in a startup environment.
