Chief Technical Officer

Salary Unpaid
Equity To be negotiated

We’re building something that matters — and we want you to build it with us.

GLYON is on a mission to end textile waste. We’re developing a breakthrough CO₂-powered textile-to-textile recycling technology that transforms polyester-based waste into virgin-quality raw materials, without fossil fuels. Our process is real, lab-proven, and now we’re scaling it up: a pilot plant is coming to life in the Copenhagen area. After the pilot, we are planning to scale to DEMO and full commercial plants with our commercial partner, and we're looking for a passionate, hands-on engineer to join us as Chief Technical Officer & Co-founder to lead that journey.

This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of deep tech, sustainability, and real-world impact, in a space that’s attracting attention from major industry players and brands across the globe.

Your Role

Co-Founder: Chief Scientific Officer (CTO)

Location: Copenhagen area

Compensation: Equity only (Co-founder role).

Future salaried role post-funding.

As a founding team member, you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading the assembly, commissioning, and operation of our pilot plant

  • Selecting and sourcing equipment, materials, and instrumentation

  • Designing and optimizing chemical process workflows for safety and scalability

  • Collaborating closely with the CEO and technical advisors on process development and investor demonstrations

  • Developing SOPs, safety protocols, and basic process control strategies

  • Preparing the system for scale-up and commercialization

  • Building and leading a technical team as the company grows

Ideal Background

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field

  • Hands-on experience with pilot plants, lab-scale reactors, or chemical processing equipment

  • Knowledge of chemical safety, hazard assessments, and process troubleshooting

  • Familiarity with polymerization, reaction kinetics, or continuous/semicontinuous systems is a strong plus

  • Experience working in startups, tech transfer, or scale-up environments

  • Strong mechanical intuition and the ability to build, test, and iterate quickly

Why Join Now?

  • Founding equity with real upside — join pre-investment and benefit from a significantly lower share price. As we raise funding and scale, the value of your stake grows with the company.

  • Salaried position once the current funding round is secured (in progress)

  • Shape a company from day one — your technical vision will define how we grow. Freedom to shape your team and tech from the ground up

  • Tackle a massive global challenge — textile waste is 92M tons/year and growing

  • Collaborate with world-class advisors and ambitious co-founders and be part of a small, dedicated team where your work truly matters

  • Plug into programs like Beyond Beta and Chemelot Start-up Support.

  • Join a company that’s already gained international attention from 20+ companies and brands, with active interest in joint ventures (huge market opportunity – India + EU).

  • Help bring this tech to life — from pilot to demo to commercial scale

GLYON

GLYON is developing a CO₂-powered textile-to-textile recycling technology to help brands, fiber producers, and recyclers solve the growing textile waste crisis with a breakthrough chemical recycling process that turns waste into virgin-quality raw materials for new fibers—without fossil fuels. We address the massive problem of textile waste, a global crisis where over 92 million tonnes of textile waste are discarded each year—most of it ending up in landfills or incinerated. This contributes to major pollution issues but also forces the textile industry to continue its dependence on virgin fossil-based materials. Our solution targets fiber producers, brands, and recyclers who need circular raw material solutions. Our CO₂-based chemical recycling process breaks down polyester textiles into building blocks and leaves other fibers like cotton intact. Both PET building blocks and cotton can be used to produce new, high-quality fibers without the need for virgin oil and reducing water consumption and CO₂ emissions.
