The Role:

We're looking for someone who wants more than just a job—someone excited about the challenge of building a complex tech company from the ground up while being part of a supportive, tight-knit team. This role is both fun and challenging, offering the opportunity to work on a technically complex product that will push you to learn, grow, and work across multiple technologies. You'll spend most of your time building alongside our engineering team, but beyond just coding, you'll have a real impact on our technical strategy and how the company evolves over time. While the work will be demanding, you'll be surrounded by smart, driven teammates who collaborate, share knowledge, and support each other, making this an exciting opportunity to shape both your career and the future of Wingbits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build & Scale – Contribute to the development and scaling of our flight tracking network, ensuring our technology is robust, efficient, and industry-leading.

  • Problem Solving - We work as a team to tackle challenges, and we encourage proactive problem-solving with plenty of support when needed.

  • Collaborative Growth – Be part of a supportive, high-performing team, learning from senior engineers while sharing your own insights to elevate our engineering culture.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration – Work closely with product, design, and business teams to ensure engineering efforts are aligned with company goals.

  • Performance & Reliability – Help ensure our platform remains fast, scalable, and reliable, keeping quality and customer experience at the forefront.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Really enjoys software development and actively engages in coding or technology projects outside of work.

  • Has around 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong preference for proficiency in TypeScript and Python. Knowledge of Go is a bonus.

  • Enjoy problem-solving and have a proactive mindset, able to work independently while seeking guidance when needed.

  • Exhibits a growth-oriented mindset, a willingness to learn, and an open-minded approach to new technologies and challenges.

  • Is open minded and humble, no one knows it all.

  • Has a practical, hands-on approach to development, whether from a traditional computer science background or self-taught experience. Demonstrable skills and past projects matter more than formal credentials.

  • Values collaboration and team engagement, preferring an in-office environment when possible. We trust our team to balance flexibility and responsibility—working remotely as needed is totally fine, but we believe in the power of in-person collaboration.

Expectations

At Wingbits, innovation, speed, and flexibility drive everything we do. This role isn’t just about executing tasks—it’s about building, problem-solving, and adapting. Here’s what we expect from you:

  • We love having our team together in the office—collaboration fuels creativity and momentum. That said, we treat everyone like adults. We understand that life happens, and flexibility is key. You’ll have the freedom to balance remote work when needed, as long as you take ownership and deliver results.

  • We don’t measure success by hours clocked in but by the impact of your work. Some weeks may demand more than 40 hours to hit key milestones, while others may require less. What matters is delivering on our goals, adapting when needed, and being accountable to your teammates.

  • Startups evolve quickly, and we embrace flexibility and adaptability while ensuring a supportive and structured work environment. This means that we all figure things out together as we go, and priorities and what you work on can change rapidly.

  • We encourage taking initiative and having a sense of ownership, but we also value work-life balance and a sustainable pace.

  • Your role won’t be limited to a single function. One day you might be deep in code, the next helping refine our product strategy, or even assisting with customer needs. Flexibility and a willingness to dive in wherever needed are key.

  • We’re building something transformative in flight tracking technology. We want people who are passionate about making an impact while working in a balanced and sustainable way.

  • We value positivity, problem-solving, and a solutions-oriented approach. Challenges will come, and we need people who see opportunities rather than obstacles.

Working at
Wingbits

Wingbits, based in Stockholm, is an innovative startup revolutionizing flight tracking with blockchain technology. Funded initially by Antler in November, then also by Borderless Capital in December, our core mission is to globally aggregate flight data to develop advanced models, like delay prediction algorithms. This aims to bring a proactive edge to the traditionally reactive aviation sector. In 2022, flight delays cost the aviation industry a staggering $75 billion, not to mention the environmental toll. At Wingbits, we envision a world free of unexpected flight delays. From a business standpoint, we hit the ground running with revenue generation from our first month and have maintained an impressive organic growth rate of over 200% month-over-month since September 2023. With a comfortable runway ahead, we're gearing up for our next investment round in the first half of 2024. This will enable us to scale rapidly, expanding our team across development, commercial, marketing, and community management domains. Join us at Wingbits, where we're not just tracking flights – we're setting new standards in aviation efficiency and predictability.
