We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will be part of our early team. You will help build a meaningful product that’s equally heavy on infrastructure and user experience.

Our mission

At Hybird, we are bringing the electrical panel online and transforming it into a data platform. We process billions of circuit-breaker readings, providing unprecedented visibility into power consumption patterns. After closing a funding round, we’re expanding our team and product capabilities.

Our platform captures high-frequency measurements from electrical panels, enabling enhanced monitoring and deeper insight into what drives consumption. We aim to help installers, facility managers, and building owners optimize operations and power usage. What gets measured gets improved. Ultimately, we want the electrical panel to support remote control and deliver the insights needed to curb consumption and cut emissions.

The job

We are working in the intersection of hardware and software and are looking for someone who can contribute across the full stack and help build out scalable infrastructure and storage systems as well as contribute features to our application and nimble front end. This is where you come into the picture.

Contribute to our infrastructure: Design and implement AWS based infrastructure with a focus on scalability, reliability and security

Solve real world problems: Develop robust services in Go for high volume processing and lovely features in Ruby for human perusal

Design and own high quality products: Take end-to-end ownership of the components you build, from architecture to deployment and beyond

Establish best practices: Help us define a world class engineering culture and build a team that makes a difference

The stack

Our infrastructure is (mostly) in AWS and our stack consists of the following major components:

• Go and Ruby on Rails (ingestion and application respectively)

• Docker (ECR to Lambda and ECS)

• Postgresql RDS and Timescale Cloud (application and timeseries)

• Cloudformation (IaC)

• ESP32, Espressif IDE, C (hardware workhorse)

We are working towards a foundation for Data Science which will add a few more components, but we aim to keep it simple.

About you

You recognize yourself in the following:

An experienced hands on engineer: You have at least 5 years of experience working with production level systems using a fair number of parts from our stack, you are confident in either Go or Ruby and keen on using both

Passionate about your craft: You take pride in your work and choose your tools with care, you know how to balance tried and true against new and shiny

Bonus points for experience with ESP32, C, electrical systems, energy analysis, high volume data and database scalability, AWS infrastructure, working at a startup

Hybird HQ is in Copenhagen, Denmark. We are open to remote work as long as you’re in CET +/- 2 hours. We are actively looking for our first actual office.
