Firmware Engineer - Performance Gaming Peripherals

Salary Competitive

Wallhack is seeking a firmware engineer (embedded systems engineer) to join our international team, creating a fresh take on performance gaming peripherals with an emphasis on innovative and functional design.

You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing firmware for our cutting-edge gaming peripherals. Working closely with cross-functional teams—including internal engineers, industrial designers and external manufacturing and development partners—you’ll ensure that our products not only meet the highest performance standards but also elevate the gaming experience for users worldwide. This is a unique opportunity to influence the next generation of gaming hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Firmware Development:

    • Design, implement, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontrollers (usually Nordic, Pixart, or similar) in gaming peripherals.

    • Develop low-level drivers, communication protocols, and real-time control software.

  • System Integration:

    • Collaborate with hardware and electrical engineers to ensure seamless integration of firmware with new and existing hardware designs.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware/firmware interactions, signal integrity, and power optimization.

  • Optimization & Performance Tuning:

    • Optimize firmware for reliability, power efficiency, and latency reduction to achieve industry-leading response times.

    • Conduct profiling and debugging sessions to enhance device performance and user experience.

  • Quality & Documentation:

    • Write clear, maintainable code and produce thorough technical documentation to support ongoing development and future product iterations.

    • Develop automated test plans and participate in continuous integration and regression testing.

  • Innovation & Strategy:

    • Stay informed about emerging embedded technologies, gaming peripherals, and best practices in firmware development.

    • Participate in product concept discussions, contributing ideas for new features, capabilities, and improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

    • Proven experience through any code samples, GitHub links, or open-source contributions that showcase your firmware development work so far.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.

    • Experience with RTOS-based development and familiarity with common communication protocols (I2C, SPI, USB, Bluetooth, etc.).

    • Knowledge of hardware bring-up, board support packages, and debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG debuggers).

    • Experience with firmware version control systems (e.g., Git) and build systems.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving and debugging abilities.

    • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.

    • Passion for gaming and a commitment to continually improving user experiences.

    • Pro-active approach. Be ahead of potential issues and prepare for the worst-case scenario

    • Capable to work independently and take responsibility for the work you take on

Extra Qualifications:

  • Experience developing firmware for gaming devices, consumer electronics, or similar high-performance, low-latency products.

  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automated testing.

  • Knowledge of low-latency audio, haptic feedback, or wireless communication optimization.
