Normative is now looking for a Vice President (VP) of Engineering in Stockholm to lead the Engineering organisation in Sweden

At Normative, we're on a mission to accelerate the transition to a net-zero world. We provide science-based carbon accounting software and tailored advice from net-zero experts, empowering companies to reduce their carbon footprints.

About the Role
Normative is seeking a VP of Engineering to lead and optimize our engineering organization during a dynamic scale-up phase. This role is focused on driving impactful, continuous improvements in people and processes, fostering a high-performing engineering culture, and ensuring alignment with the company's overall objectives.

What You'll Do

  • Operate effectively in a scale-up environment, navigating constraints, tight deadlines, and rapid change to deliver results.

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance team retention, velocity, impact, and quality without overhauling existing operations.

  • Establish clear objectives for a world-class engineering organization and demonstrate actionable steps to achieve them.

  • Thrive in an environment with unknowns, challenges, and unpredictability, maintaining a solution-oriented mindset.

  • Lead Engineering Managers (EMs) and their teams, ensuring smooth execution and alignment without becoming a bottleneck for innovation or communication.

  • Prioritize company outcomes over individual or team optimizations, aligning efforts to organizational goals.

  • Work in close partnership with the CTO, focusing on people and process leadership while supporting strategy, innovation, and high-impact projects without creating silos.

What you bring

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in fast-paced scale-up environments, with a track record of successfully navigating complexity and constraints.

  • Familiarity with both scale-up and large organization contexts, with a preference for scale-up experience as the primary focus.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement incremental process improvements with measurable impact.

  • Exceptional resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills in ambiguous and dynamic settings.

  • Strong alignment with company-wide objectives and a collaborative, outcome-driven mindset.

  • Experience in second-level management, including leading and mentoring Engineering Managers.

The Team

Our core values and the culture we aim for:

  • Stay mission-driven and data-informed

  • Contribute to developing a team based on trust, transparency, and respect

  • Strive for individual growth and team performance

  • See feedback as a tool for improvement - we learn from our efforts; both successes and mistakes.

  • Value continuous improvements over static best practices

We also believe you enjoy working in an environment with typical challenges of a growing company, asking a lot of questions and learning new things. At Normative we believe that collaboration with teammates is essential and you’ll thrive if you like to explain and discuss technical approaches with other engineers.

If you are a driven and passionate individual with a strong desire to make a positive impact on the world, and a real love for Engineering, we encourage you to apply. This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven company and make a real difference in the fight against climate change.

Working at
Normative

Our Mission: Normative is here to make known and reduce the sustainability impact of all economic activities on the planet. We provide science-based carbon accounting software and tailored advice from net zero experts, enabling companies to reduce their carbon footprints. Our Story: Normative is rooted in climate research. In 2013, co-founder Kristian Rönn was working at Oxford University, simulating the consequences of climate change. The results showed that global warming would cause extreme human suffering, motivating Kristian to leave academia and take action. He joined forces with Adam Wamai Egesa and Robin Undall-Behrend, and in 2014 the world’s first carbon accounting engine was born to help humanity achieve net zero emissions and reverse the trajectory of climate change. We now have offices in Stockholm, Copenhagen, and London, and are actively hiring talent to join the mission. Today, companies from around the world trust our carbon accounting engine to help them reduce their carbon footprint. We partner with leading climate change organisations including the UN, to deliver actionable sustainability intelligence and have received a grant from Google. We are backed by some of the world’s most significant climate investors, and are the official software provider for the UN-backed SME Climate Hub initiative through which thousands of small businesses have committed to net zero. Our Team: We are a global team working to solve a global problem. We’re headquartered in Stockholm, with offices in Copenhagen and London as well as remote team members located all over the world. We have spoken at the World Economic Forum, consulted the European Commission, and worked with the United Nations to develop a new standard for emissions accounting. We come from many walks of life, but we’re united in one mission: to help humanity achieve net zero emissions. Every employee at Normative plays a valuable role in reducing business carbon emissions.
