Doublepoint creates cutting-edge interaction technology for the next generation of user interfaces across smartwatches, TVs, and AR. Our smartwatch algorithms detect subtle hand gestures that have not previously been possible, but to make sure our technology produces the best experience for our users, we need to envision, design, and test these interactions effectively.
Doublepoint is seeking a Senior Interaction Designer to join our Interaction team. This role is pivotal in bridging technology with user needs, evaluating how factors like accuracy, sensitivity, and robustness of gesture detection models impact user experience. You’ll work to shape how users interact with wearable tech, defining future gestures and the use cases they enable that are likely to depart from conventionally purely 2D screen-based interfaces.
As a team member, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Defining quantitative and qualitative measures of how accuracy, sensitivity, and robustness of gesture detection models impact user experience, and devising ways to improve these experiences through refined interaction design.
Guiding the technical roadmap by envisioning new gestures and use cases without constraint by current technical limitations. Examples may include:
Use cases where the smartwatch is a standalone device
Gestures that control the entire smartwatch experience
Gestures on the smartwatch that interact with other devices beyond the smartwatch itself
Designing, organizing, conducting, and analyzing meaningful user tests to derive actionable insights.
For instance, you may work to minimize discrepancies between user feedback and machine learning model performance metrics.
The ideal candidate will have:
At least 5 years of experience in interaction design, user experience, or a similar field.
Proven track record of designing and implementing effective user interfaces preferably based on novel interaction paradigms, ideally outside of 2D screen-based interfaces.
The ability to translate complex, fuzzy goals into clear, effective, actionable tasks. This includes knowing when to rely on first principles and well educated guesses versus uncovering more information with user testing.
Experience leading and coordinating across teams, with a focus on aligning technical capabilities with user-centered design.
Excellent communication skills and a strategic mindset focused on driving value for end users and business objectives.
A strong sense of what makes good interaction and what doesn’t.
The possibility to work in Helsinki.
Our ideal candidate would also possess:
Familiarity with gesture detection models, wearable technology, and how UX principles apply to advanced, sensor-driven interactions.
Join us in shaping the future of user interaction.
