Software engineer co-founder to Wearables startup

Salary Competitive
Equity To be negotiated

Hi there. We are dQmetrics, and we are looking for a software engineer who can lead our software development and take our app and cloud setup to the next level.

We are developing a wearable wristband that can auto-track the calories consumed - without manual meal registration. The goal is to make lasting weight change possible for slightly obese individuals. We have working prototypes, and we just finished our proof of technology where we showed that the concept works in laboratory settings, where the test persons are sitting still. Now we are working on getting ready for closed customer testing, where test persons will wear our prototype as a normal smartwatch in real world settings. To do this, we need your help to finalize the next version of our app, so we can collect data from our test persons via the app. There will also be initial front-end development involved, so the test persons can enter information and get back predictions of their calorie intake.

We are looking to raise our first investment round in the coming 3-6 months. When we raise our first round, we can offer equity and a salary that will be able to sustain you. In the mean time we expect the position to be part time with around 5- to 20-hours per week. During this period, you will start earning vested equity, but the position will be unpaid. We are quite flexible around the part time period and take your situation into account.

What’s in it for you?

  • Impactful Work: We are pushing the technology frontier with a new product that can make a real difference for people living with obesity.

  • Continuous Growth: Your work will directly influence how users interact with our wearable technology, and you get ownership and influence over the entire software stack.

  • Foundation of Product Value and Company Success: Our software is enabling us to deliver meaningful benefits to our users. It plays a pivotal role in how we connect with, engage, and provide value to our customers.

  • Collaborative Culture: Thrive in a team that cares. Our environment is built on collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared passion for innovation.

  • Multidisciplinary Team: Being in the wearable space, you get to work at the intersection between Hardware, Software, Machine Learning and the Health Sciences.

About the role:

The first version of our app is 90-95% complete. The front is written in Dart (Flutter), and the back-end is written in Python. Your first step will be to finish the app, so we can collect data via the app. The next step will be to get the app ready for closed customer testing. This means that Basic UX will be implemented, and that calorie predictions can be delivered and shown to the user via the app.

Besides from the app, we also have a cloud environment and a database. You will also be working on maintaining a smooth and safe connection between our hardware prototype, the app, the cloud environment and our database.

On the short term we are looking for someone who can make things work fast, and do iterations to improve things as we scale and grow our software stack. As our company grows, you’ll have the chance to shape your future role based on your interests—whether that means leading our software stack, focusing on app or cloud development, or carving out a new path that aligns with your passions and strengths.
