Doublepoint creates gesture recognition software for smartwatches. Our technologies are being used to control AR/VR, IoT, wearables, automotive, AI assistants, TVs, and much more. Our smartwatch algorithms detect subtle hand gestures and need to be accurate, responsive, low power, and generalizable across populations. We're a small team of 15 people based mostly in Helsinki, with 6m euro in funding from VCs and angels, and our technology is being used by over 65k people today.
At Doublepoint, we need to collect a significant amount of high-quality data in order to train world-class gesture detection models.
At the core of this is our Data Infrastructure team, which builds tools to allow the User Research team to collect a lot of targeted data easily, as well as tooling to enable the Machine Learning team to access this data seamlessly for training models.
To support this work, we're looking for a dynamic full-stack engineer to join our Data Infrastructure team to help us develop and maintain modern data infra, as well as build tooling for people across the company to access our data and derive valuable insights from it.
While we are the owners of our main data stores and the pipelines going in and out of them, our responsibilities extend beyond that, and include full-stack projects that involve building UIs for collecting data and interfacing with our hardware (Doublepoint Kit), managing and tracking data collection, visualizing model performance, creating automations, as well as enabling anyone in the company to access and run aggregations on raw data to inform decisions.
This means we're looking for someone dynamic, who's able and willing to jump into different projects and enjoys doing so. There is also the possibility to specialize within the team and become an owner of larger pieces of our infrastructure, but at the same time we'd like you to be able to contribute to different areas.
Experience as a full-stack engineer shipping things to production with relevant technologies
We mostly use Python (Flask) and TypeScript (React) and would prefer direct experience with these but experience with other equivalent stacks is also valid
Having worked with relational databases at a reasonable scale in production
Having solid knowledge of SQL
Experience with setting up and managing services using established cloud providers (e.g. AWS)
Great communication. Our team operates async and it's important that we communicate effectively - particularly in written form - and document things. Most of our work happens in the Helsinki office, but not all!
Having managed a relational database like Postgres in production
Experience setting up automations using CI/CD tools
Experience managing and overseeing high-availability production servers and clusters
Our services stack includes Grafana, Sentry, Metabase, Cloudfare, PostHog, GitLab, AWS, and Fly.io. Extensive experience with any of these is a bonus.
