Senior Backend Engineer

SYBO is growing. We’re releasing new games, building on the massive success of Subway Surfers as the most downloaded game of all time (4 billion downloads and counting!) and continuing to excite and surprise the most important people in the world: Our players!

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with a proven track record of designing and implementing scalable backend systems, preferably in Go or similar languages to join our Central Technology team. The team builds tools and core services that are used across all of our games.

We've got new games in the pipeline, and we’re looking for an experienced and passionate engineer to join our team as we embark on these adventures. As a Senior Backend Engineer at SYBO, you will be an integral part of solving the many interesting challenges and responsibilities we face when building very ambitious, top-notch F2P games.

You will be part of a small, agile team focusing on our central technology, collaborating on developing our backend services utilized by all of our games, including working with existing/off-the-shelf solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, robust, and efficient backend systems and services.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to develop new game features and services.
• Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain high code quality and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Take an active part in ensuring our roadmap and architecture aligns with the broader company objectives and vision.

Your start at SYBO

In your first month, you will be taking a deep dive into our tech stack and get an idea of how things are put together. You will also start working on some smaller tasks.

In your first three months, you will start to become more comfortable with our tech stack and work on some of our larger systems like our AB Testing system.

In your first twelve months, you will have mastered our tech stack, become really comfortable and started developing brand new systems and features.

Requirements

• Excellent programming skills and a desire to work with Go
• Experience working Google Cloud or any other cloud provider like AWS or Azure
• Experience working with databases (preferably both SQL and NoSQL ones)
• Familiar with using containers and Kubernetes
• Comfortable in a Linux based environment and its command line tools
• Keep cool under pressure, when issues pop up in live production environments

Bonus points

• Experience using Terraform
• Experience using Google Cloud
