Company Size: We're a Copenhagen-based startup with a diverse team of 1 founder, 6 employees, several mentors, researchers, and suppliers, united by the same goal: To create the best and most sustainable leather alternative by upcycling food waste.
We are looking for a full-time R&D scientist with a background in rubber technology and an interest in biomass/natural rubber composites to join the R&D team of Beyond Leather Materials and be able to start right away. The ideal candidate should possess a solid foundation in rubber processing, a knack for executing tasks, and proficiency in designing experiments. An added interest in biomass valorization and end-of-life/reprocessing of materials is highly valued. You will have an opportunity to develop an innovative material that is based on food waste and to work with like-minded people.
1. Technical Execution:
Execute and oversee tasks related to rubber processing and product development.
Implement and optimize the design of experiments for continuous improvement.
2. Research and Development:
Conduct thorough desk research on how to improve the performance of our biomaterial
Support the rest of the R&D team and the company as a whole in day-to-day activities, ideation, and discussions
Follow the developments of new materials and trends within our industry
3. Expertise in Rubber:
Leverage your in-depth knowledge of rubber properties, formulations, and processing techniques.
4. Sustainability Focus:
Contribute to projects related to biomass valorization and explore innovative solutions for end-of-life.
Educated as an MSc or PhD in polymer chemistry, material science, process engineer or similar. An intermediate chemistry level is necessary.
Ideally 1-3 years of working experience with rubber processing and formulation (not silicones) or a relevant PhD project
You can adapt to the startup pace and desire to learn and grow in a startup
You have a detail-oriented and structured approach to day-to-day work
Curious and open to understanding and discussing your own and your colleagues' tasks and responsibilities
Enjoy taking responsibility, getting things done, and sharing good, bad, and failed experiments
