co-founder to wearables startup - Human Physiology / Biology background

Salary Competitive
Equity To be negotiated

Hi there. We are dQmetrics, and we are looking for a co-founder with a deep understanding of the human body and how biological differences affect the metabolism.

We are developing a novel wearable that auto-tracks the calories consumed, without manual meal registration. The goal is to make lasting change possible for slightly obese individuals, by meeting them where they are and empowering them to fine-tune their eating habits - at a pace they can maintain in the long run. We got working prototypes, and we just finished our proof of technology where we showed that the concept works. Now we need your help to apply human physiology knowledge to tune the accuracy of our algorithms.

What’s in it for you?

  • You will help building an innovative product, that’s never been done before

  • You will gain hands-on experince in a startup environment where your contribution will have immediate and meaningful impact. You get to play a central role in our team and lead our science efforts

  • Being in the wearable space you get to work at the intersection between hardware, software, machine learning and human physiology

  • No mouse studies, we’re straight to human trials

About the role:

We need your knowledge of physiology to guide the sensor selection and how the algorithm can account for the biological differences from person to person. As an example you can help figuring out how we can account for diseases, menstrual cycle phases and stress. You will play an important role in the product development, and you will be working closely together with our hardware developer and machine learning engineer.

Your tasks in the beginning would be to:

  • Map out the different biological factors, which can affect the metabolism

  • Run experiments to understand how the performance of the algorithm changes in different scenarios, (e.g. meal sizes, body types, macro-nutrient composition)

  • Improve our scientific methods and validation of our accuracy

About dQmetrics:

We’re an early-stage deep tech startup and we are passionate about developing the next generation of wearables. We believe, the wearables industry is just getting started, and that we can help unlock the secrets of the human body by expanding the range of available sensors.

Preferred skills:

  • Deep understanding of the human physiology

  • Knowledge of metabolism and how the metabolism varies from person to person

Nice to have skills:

  • Deep knowledge of the digestion process is a plus

  • Experience with clinical test studies is a plus

Timeline:

In the beginning, the position will be part-time. We are quite flexible, and we will take your situation into account. In the coming 3-6 months we aim to raise money to offer you a full-time position with salary and equity on top.
