Seeking a technically minded business leader to develop a high potential new green agricultural commodity called glacial rock flour from Greenland. You will be an extremely early employee / co-founder of a Danish company recently spun up on the basis of very promising academic research and backed by patient private capital.
The value creation and environmental impact potential of the company are extremely large, but execution requires building up both the supply and demand for a new product across multiple markets. Supply development involves navigating necessary permitting for harvesting the material and building up a global supply chain including both international shipping and last mile delivery. Demand development involves deploying field trials to refine the value proposition of the product and engaging catalytic customers within key market segments as early offtakers.
The ideal candidate has a scientific and/or technical background along with at least 5 years of work experience in a relevant field (e.g. shipping, logistics, agriculture); ability to create and deliver on a business plan and manage a small team; a deep passion for sustainability alongside razor sharp business acumen; creativity and resilience around developing solutions to the numerous challenges of developing a new global agricultural commodity.
Initially, you will be exclusively responsible for the supply side of the business, but also help lead a small team focused on demand and other tasks. You will have the support of a hands-on board and several expert advisors familiar with the project. The role will initially be very COO-like, with business strategy and fundraising shared with the board. However, there is the potential to grow into other c-suite roles (e.g. CEO) over time.
Start date is as soon as possible. Compensation will consist of a modest cash salary, but significant share options to create an ownership mindset and align incentives with that of the company. Location is ideally Denmark (relocation possible), but Europe can also work assuming regular travel to Denmark.
