We are looking for a Tech Lead to coach our junior/mid developers, help us refactor some of our technical debt by building new microservices, lead the team to design the new front-end and back-end libraries shared among our products, and architect/lead the development of future products. Eventually, they would also lead the development of our resume/CV and cover letter editor once the technical debt has been dealt with, and ideally, one day become a CTO. 

 

Core responsibilities:

  • Designed, develop, and maintain software solutions using Node.js, NextJS, Prisma, TypeScript, Express.js, React, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, and Docker.

  • Lead and mentor a team of passionate software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.

  • Architect scalable, flexible, pragmatic, and high-performance microservices and software that can adapt to the dynamic needs of the product.

  • Be hands-on in the development process, writing code, and providing technical guidance to the team.

  • Ensure that we have automated tests for our microservices and products.

  • Help us Mitigate the Technical Debt by recreating new microservices and internal libraries. 

  • Conduct regular code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain code quality and craftsmanship.

  • Champion, mentor, and coach best practices in software development, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, security, performance, and automated testing.

  • Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, effectively communicating complex ideas in a clear and understandable manner.

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that adheres to industry standards and best practices.

  • Go the extra mile to build the best product for the users.

  • Strive for good quality code/applications but also displays pragmatism by prioritizing deploying over perfectionism.

  • Collaborate with the other team members to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements and user needs.

  • Identify and resolve technical issues and bugs in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve our development processes and methodologies.

  • Write the front-end and back-end code.

  • Maintain a high level of cyber security and audit while being able to distinguish between a true security vulnerability, a nice to have that makes the user not want to use the product.

  • Ensure that we are not producing resource waste or financial waste by being smart in how we use tools/build the architecture and code while building solutions that deliver a good User Experience. 

 

The right candidate:

  • Is fluent in English, has excellent communication skills, and has a high emotional intelligence.

  • Is ambitious, proactive, and passionate about tech.

  • Is very proactive and capable of handling technical challenges and has the capacity to translate complex conceptual ideas into practical software solutions.

  • Is focused on measuring success by metrics and impact not effort and hours.

  • Embraces Deep Work and minimizes meetings.

  • Can set ambitious goals and inspire the development team.

  • Is empathic but also sets high standards with candor.

  • Can create 3 solutions or proposals for every technical problem.

  • Has 8+ years of relevant work experience and at least 2+ years of leadership experience.

  • Is passionate about building robust, scalable, and performant APIs using Node.js, Express.js, TypeScript, React, NextJS, Prisma, MySql/PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis and Docker. We’d love to hear from you about what else you like to create products with!

  • Has experience in building Hybrid Apps.

  • Is a fan of functional programming.

  • Has previous rich experience with Node.js, NextJS, TypeScript, Express.js, Prisma, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Docker.

  • Has a strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and relational databases.

  • Has experience with software architecture and creating microservices.

  • Has experience with building and deploying applications in a cloud environment such as AWS or GCP.

  • Has familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git.

  • Is empathic, proactive, and assertive.

  • Enjoyes a Hybrid working model (between remote and office).
