A day in the life of a Data Scientist at OKTO
As a developer in a small dedicated team, you will get your hands deep into new and exciting feature developments with plenty of opportunities to influence the choice of technologies and methods. Expect to become fully integrated into solid work packages and take part in sprints along with friendly colleagues in an innovative environment. You will write, review, and maintain our codespace together with the rest of the team on a daily basis, and interact closely with customers and a diverse team in finding solutions to complex problems. You will be directly impacting solutions that create genuine value for our users with opportunities for growth and development.
The Ideal Candidate
We are implementing new data processing pipelines for a highly scalable analytics platform to expand on our current functionality, analytics, and automation services to our users. As a junior developer you will be helping in designing, developing, and validating a range of data services in good guidance and collaboration with our senior data scientist and backend developers.
Experience with signal processing techniques and an interest in time-series and frequency domain analytics is a plus.
We are a small team, continuously iterating on defining which features and problems to tackle. We expect you are staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of data science, and have an understanding of the importance of good communication skills and an interest in the value proposition of your work beyond technical requirements.
About you
Are knowledgeable about data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques
Are an experienced Python developer (we use it for developing our data products)
Practical understanding of of statistics and data modeling
Have solid conceptual and architectural understanding of data modeling involving multiple data sources and using ETL/ELT pipelines
Knowledge of and interest in deploying data-related infrastructure in the cloud
Key Responsibilities
Collecting, cleaning, and preprocessing data from various sources
Building classification, forecasting, and predictive models
Visualizing and presenting insights and findings to stakeholders
Developing and implementing data-driven solutions to business problems
Staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of data science
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science or a related field
Have solid Python experience (we use it for developing our data products)
Have solid conceptual and architectural understanding of data modeling involving multiple data sources and using ETL/ELT pipelines
Ability to work with large datasets and manipulate data using cloud computing
Knowledgeable about cloud-based data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques
Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Grafana
Experience with advanced signal processing techniques (wavelet analysis, frequency decomposition, time-series analysis) is a plus
Experience with energy data modeling and optimisation is a big plus
