Donkey Republic is looking for a Business Developer who is fluent in French to support our growing markets in France.

What you will be doing 

As a Business Developer at Donkey you will operate in the French market, which means that you become an expert  within the market, the competition and the bike-sharing system used by the cities. You work as an ambassador on behalf of Donkey and your role is to make the cities aware of us and why we would be the best fit for them. 

You will also attend  events and conferences to gain market knowledge and connect with industry professional and city officials  This knowledge will give us an advantage when we apply for the tenders, where you will direct the team in what tenders to focus on and pursue. 

Another important part of the job is to pursue new opportunities, follow up on leads and present our products to potential clients. You will also be the one responsible for negotiating the contract and closing the deals. 

Lastly, a big part of the job is to work on public documents and procurement. Having  experience  with tender processes is  a big plus-  as part of the job is to write and  prepare documents (technical document, financial bid…) for the tender.  

About you

The bike sharing industry is a complex industry. We are looking for someone with a structured way of accessing information and with the ability  to translate complex information  into simple solutions everyone can understand. 

If you have some of the characteristics below, you are well on your way to be the perfect BD at Donkey.

  • You are structured and organised when accessing information

  • You are able to process complex information 

  • You are able to access information and act as an expert within your field

  • You pursue new opportunities with energy

  • You have great communication skills and have experience with stakeholder management

  • You are a native French speaker  (Spanish will be a plus)

  • Experience within the micro-share mobility or tendering process is a plus

What is our Business Development team like?

Our BD team consists of many different nationalities with energetic, yet different personalities. We do a lot of teamwork and we support and have deep respect for each other. As a young team, we also like to be very social whether that be in the office playing table football or going for dinner/drinks after work. 

Why are Business Development at Donkey different?

Being a BD at Donkey differs quite a lot from other BD departments you’ll see in other companies. 

The reason is the way we work together and how we address the market. We have very long sales cycles and it is not uncommon that a tender deal will take everything from 6 months to 2-3 years. That means that we work strategically together to reach the tenders with the most potential. 

Here's how we expect you to progress:

After 1 month:

  • You are familiar with the team and have a fair understanding of the projects and challenges we are tackling.

  • You are familiar with other teams and have a fair understanding of what they do.

  • You are aware of the various tools we use for daily development.

  • You feel comfortable with our daily workflow.

After 3 months:

  • You are comfortable with the CRM tools and project management tools we use 

  • You can pitch our product during a discovery meeting

  • You can draft an offer for a prospect

  • You have a basic understanding of the market trends and competitors

  • You can read tender documents and understand the main idea

After 6 months:

  • You are able to identify areas of improvement and take initiatives to act on them.

  • You can assess a tender and prepare an application

  • You can run a demo meeting by yourself and understand our different products complexities

  • You have a clear overview of the market trends and competitors, and you know how to use those information for our strategy in France and Switzerland
