About the role

We are looking for an experienced Digital Product Designer to join our Product team at the Donkey HQ in Copenhagen.

As a digital product designer at Donkey Republic, you will be responsible for user interface design of the Donkey Republic iOS and Android rider app and other backstage interfaces that enable the smooth running of our operation. 

You will define our first design system to help align existing UI patterns and ensure the app interface matches the brand guidelines, and you will work closely with developers, service design and user research on some exciting projects; sometimes small iterative experiments to optimise performance and some bigger new functionality as we grow Donkey Republic and improve user experience for our riders in 12 countries.

What you’ll do

• Take the product design process from start to finish: Create design concepts from sketch through to pixel perfect designs and user flows that can be used by frontend and backend developers.  

• Create low and high fidelity prototypes: Use prototyping to help inform interaction design, communicate ideas and test ideas with users.

• Ensure designs meet user needs and are user friendly: Work alongside the UX designer and user researcher to partake in discovery research and regular usability testing. 

• Technical feasibility and quality output: Work closely with developers to check technical feasibility of designs, and collaborate with QA to ensure built output aligns with designs and expected behaviours.

• Establish and maintain a design system: Define a system that works across Donkey Republic’s iOS and Android native apps, whilst aligning with the Donkey brand.

Who you are

• You have 3-4+ years in a digital product design role with a strong background in UI design, but interested in UX, research & product disciplines.

• You have extensive experience designing for cross-platform design native apps and you know the latest iOS and Android Material design guidelines like the back of your hand.

• You dream in components and modules and are experienced working with design systems. Bonus: If you have established and built a design system from scratch.

• You are knowledgeable about accessibility standards and good practice to ensure UI designs are suitable for users of different abilities.

• You are well practised in the basics of visual design including colour theory, typography and layout. 

• You have strong attention to detail. You can spot missing states and component variations with your eyes closed.

• You take an experimental approach to design and use insight/data to inform design decisions over opinion.

• Figma is your tool of choice for designing, prototyping and doodling during meetings.
