Android developer for fast-growing 2nd hand platform
Trendsales is all about sustainable shopping and our mission is to make buying and selling secondhand as easy and secure as possible.
We are the biggest transactional secondhand platform in Denmark, and have built a strong business, but we have much bigger plans.
We are therefore looking for an experienced Android developer to take the helm of our Android app and help bring it to the next level.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will be our sole Android developer, but you will work in close cooperation with fellow iOS, web and backend developers (backend entirely written in Java), designers, product managers and CTO. You will be pitching ideas, writing code, challenging backend API’s and identifying and fixing any issues our users are experiencing.
Our product team is small, so focus is to keep things simple on all levels. The Android app was originally written in Java, but during the last year many parts have been moved to Kotlin. The app communicates with the backend using standard Rest API-calls.
We have a clear high-level roadmap for 2023, but many important details are missing. This leaves great room for you to set your mark on the journey ahead.
To give you a sense of what kinds of tasks and features you will be building, here is a list of some of our recent accomplishments:
Transformed the entire platform from a primarily communication platform into a fully transactional platform with integrated shipping and escrow payments
Introduced split payments
Created a fully customizable main feed
Added GIft cards to our checkout flow
We are looking for a candidate who knows the ins and outs of the Android platform, the surrounding tools and is ready for similar challenges as listed above.
We don't expect you to know all answers up front, but having a strong understanding of software development, troubleshooting and teamwork will take you far.
You pay attention to the Android ecosystem and Java + Kotlin.
We expect you to help set goals and execute them and we will offer our strongest support in helping you achieve those goals.
You might have a computer science background or similar, or you might not. What is most important to us, is your abilities and your commitment.
ABOUT THE LOCATION
We expect you to work from our office in central Copenhagen minimum 1-3 days per week on average as we value the energy derived from regular physical meetups. The rest of the time you are free to work from home.
