We are currently seeking a tech lead and software engineer to join our team and assist in the development of our online platform that helps companies calculate carbon footprint. In this role, you will work closely with our CTO to design, build, and maintain the platform's front-end, back-end, and data storage systems. You will help define our tech-stack and assist with the latest web development technologies and trends.

At New Need we empower people to make sustainable choices in benefit of our planet. We do this by providing tools and services to help everyone understand and use CO2 as a currency. We combine climate data management, automatic carbon footprint calculations, and insights in one platform to enable people to act sustainable.

New Need is founded in late 2022 and is therefore in the early stages as a company. This gives a ton of opportunities for new employees to develop and gain a lot of responsibility as the company grows.

New Need have seen an opportunity to solve the resourceful and time-consuming tasks regarding carbon footprint calculation, and we hope you want to take part in accomplishing this.

Key Responsibilities:

Your key responsibilities in this role includes:

• Design, develop, and maintain our back-end system and processes using languages such as Python, Java, and Ruby (you get influence to decide).

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

• Work on the microservice architecture to separate the front-end, back-end and data storage services.

• Design and implement the database schema and data models.

• Create and implement APIs to connect our platform to various ERP systems.

• Write automated tests and perform manual testing to ensure the platform is functioning correctly.

• Troubleshoot and debug any issues that arise during development.

• Optimize the platform for scalability and performance.

• Write and maintain documentation for backend systems and processes.

• Assist with the development of our front-end using modern web development technologies and frameworks like React or Angular.

Qualifications:

It is a must that you have a strong technical background and experience within software development.

• Proficient in at least one back-end programming language such as Python, Java or Ruby.

• Experience working with databases and data modeling.

• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  
  

It would be preferred if you have:

• Experience with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum etc.

• Strong understanding and experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and frameworks such as React and Angular.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
