Do you enjoy creating data pipelines to feed hungry AI models with high-quality medical image data? Are you interested in healthcare technology and in working for a company that wants to disrupt the medical imaging space with products that will transform radiology?
If so, join us at Cerebriu, a prize-winning health-tech startup, developing cutting-edge AI software that reads and interprets brain MRI images in real-time, allowing dynamic radiology workflow adaptation. Radiological images are the key input to the development of our AI engine, and thereby our Apollo AI software. We are looking to expand our team with a brilliant Senior Data Engineer to spearhead and ensure that we have a data pipeline that matches our scale-up goals and can ingest hundreds of thousands more medical images into our AI training environment.
We want someone who loves data and especially complex data, who appreciates that data quality is key, and that data integrity must be retained throughout its lifecycle.
You will be the key architect and implementer of our new data pipeline, so you bring real-world experience, are able to design a new system to scale-up our ETL procedures so that they can handle the many large medical imaging datasets from our collaborators and partners. Experience of medical imaging, preferably neuro or radiology images and the DICOM format, will be considered a strong advantage.
What you can expect to be doing:
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to determine their different requirements, and be able to architect solutions that match their specifications
Build and maintain a high-quality end-to-end robust data pipeline and data storage solution that matches those specifications
Create and tool data-handling processes, such as annotation, QC, AI training/validation, building upon the realized data pipeline
Build automated monitoring mechanisms to ensure compliance and integrity of the pipelines and database
You preferably have experience and knowledge of:
Informatics (validating and maintaining data integrity)
Processing large datasets, and the extraction, structuring and analysis of metadata
Architectural design of image databases and pipelines, and experience to determine the best solution (build vs buy)
Medical image processing (especially DICOM headers and image transforms)
You will likely possess many of the following IT skills:
Coding (e.g. Python)
Databases (e.g. SQL, MongoDB)
Data version control tools (e.g. DVC, Neptune)
Pipelining tools (e.g. dbt, Airflow)
Natural Language Processing (to analyse and classify associated medical reports)
Cloud storage and database solutions (e.g. AWS S3, Glue, Athena, Azure Data Lake)
Data-handling software (e.g. Snowflake, DataBricks. QMENTA, XNAT, FlyWheel)
But the most important part is your personality – we are a diverse team of 15+ nationalities and we are looking for another awesome colleague who values being part of a team, embraces both co-creation and independent responsibilities, and enjoys taking ownership.
Your skillset includes a strong analytical expertise and the ability to plan and realize robust and scalable solutions with a sufficient eye for the detail and yet ensure timely deliveries. You’re a great communicator, able to interact with a variety of internal stakeholders. Our company language is English and so you need to have verbal and written fluency at a business and technical level.
Your academic records include a degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field combined with professional experience in data engineering or a related field.
