Research and Data Science Lead for growing Med-Tech startup
At Paragit Solutions, we are looking for a determined and experienced candidate to take on a critical role as Research and Data Science Lead. The ideal candidate blends hands-on experience in developing high-performing algorithms to extract insights from biomedical data with a deep understanding of neuroscience and neurological disorders.
About Paragit Solutions
Paragit Solutions is an early-stage medical device startup working to develop and market a novel solution to support early diagnosis and personalized treatment of neurological disorders – starting with Parkinson’s. Based in Copenhagen, the company has won several innovation challenges in Scandinavia and Silicon Valley and the development has largely been funded by EIT Health, Innovation Fund Denmark, and other innovation environments. We are working with leading clinical partners to test and validate the solution which you will be a critical part of.
We are developing a solution consisting of both hardware and software. The patented Paragit Sleeve collects high-resolution data on muscle activity, movement, and grip force from patients during daily life. The data is transferred to the software suite, where it is modeled and correlated to clinical measurements of disease severity. This provides clinicians with a holistic overview of patients’ symptoms and treatment responses during daily life, which, in turn, fosters optimized treatment and better care.
About the role
Joining Paragit Solutions as Research and Data Science Lead, you will have broad responsibilities in setting up research projects to collect data and develop high-performing algorithms to extract clinical insights from the data collected with the Paragit Sleeve. With current statistical models, we have obtained correlations of 0,8 with both high sensitivity and specificity and expect that this can be significantly improved when migrating to more advanced models. The main milestones expected for the first 6 months are:
Develop and implement strategies to improve the foundation of data to train algorithms. E.g., via synthetic data, small research projects with volunteers, or any other approach which would allow us to generate large data sets quickly.
Develop algorithms to quantify motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease; rigidity (muscle stiffness), tremor (shaking), bradykinesia (slowness), and levodopa-induced dyskinesia.
With these milestones, we expect you to hit the ground running. You will work in collaboration with clinical partners, software developers, and founders to meet these milestones.
Personal skills
Proactive: You bring ideas to the company and act in line with the overall strategy.
Persistent: You follow through on commitments and go the distance to get the job done.
Adaptability: You adjust quickly to changing priorities and cope well with complexity and change.
Salary will be negotiated depending on experience, and can be blended with ownership in the company (warrants).
