Who is Firmnav and what do we do?

Firmnav is a fast-growing AI and data company headquartered in the heart of Copenhagen. We are working with leading enterprise commercial teams, helping them optimize their commercial strategy and execution using machine learning on their own and our proprietary company data.

We are empowering our customers with the next generation of machine learning-based customer analytic and sales prediction tools with our SaaS platform as well as some tailored data science projects.

What is the role of a data scientist?

As a data scientist at Firmnav you will be working in two parallel tracks: on our ML-based data processing & analytics tool, and on custom customer projects which we do to get learnings for the general analytics tool. We base most of our work on text, so you will be working a lot with NLP.

A typical day for you might look like this:

• Daily standup with your data science team

• Work on a project where we use historical sales data to predict what types of customers are most valuable (bring in the highest sales, easiest to "win"). During this process, you will interact and work closely with the business side of Firmnav

• Improve the performance of one of our data processing models, like the summarizer model that uses multiple text inputs to generate a succinct summary about a company - describing its most important aspects

Expected experience:

• Strong Python skills

• Some NLP-experience

Additional valuable experience:

• Docker

• Elasticsearch

• FastAPI

• Unit testing

What does it take to succeed in the role?

• Taking full end-to-end ownership of projects, i.e.

  • understanding the data you're working with, proactively checking if the input data needs to be improved and if so, in what ways

  • feature engineering collaboratively with people with domain knowledge

  • understanding model performance, balancing trade-offs between feasibility and SOTA-performance

  • continuously monitoring performance and output

• Writing well-structured, maintainable code

• Acquiring domain knowledge from around the organisation

• Being proactive and constantly looking for improvements, but also pragmatic with regards to time and resources
