About the opportunity:

We are looking for an entrepreneurial and driven Investment Analyst to join our team. We can offer you an exciting position in a small team with unique opportunities to learn about revenue based finance (RBF), business development and data analysis.

You will become a part of a close-knit European team. We talk daily and travel to see each other frequently. No matter what country you are based in – you will get to travel to at least 3 different countries a year.

The Role:

As a part of Valerian’s Data & Analytics team you will:

• Analyse financial & non-financial data to gain an understanding of how some of the best eCommerce, SaaS and Marketplace companies in the world work

• Collate, treat and analyse various data from platforms that form the basis for Valerian’s data driven investment decision algorithm

• Assist our data science team with algorithm design, architecture and implementation

• Engage with sales team and potential customers and provide an invaluable input into the decision as to whether they qualify for funding

• Work with the product and tech team to bridge data and business requirements 

• Continuously challenge yourself to improve your efficiency, knowledge and skill

• We're a start-up and your work will vary and you will have autonomy over projects that will accelerate your own and Valerian’s growth

As a business analyst, you will have the opportunity to work in a flat decision making and communication environment, gaining exposure to best practices the founders have developed at firms like McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, and Snapchat. You will play a key role in shaping the culture and defining the future way of working at Valerian.

Profile/Qualifications:

We are looking for the right profile to take part in shaping the future of Valerian’s Data & Analytics team

• You are a self-starter who knows that the future of work isn’t to join a large organisation but instead to learn in a startup environment from a seasoned team of professionals

• You are a driven individual with excellent academic credentials, student, fresh graduate or with 1-3 years of relevant experience

• You study or have a degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science or equivalent, with outstanding academic credentials (top quartile)

• You have solid experience with data handling, Excel proficiency is a must ,programming with Python or other programming languages is a plus

• You have a passion for online businesses and business models and are eager to understand the key drivers to operating a successful online business. If you have experience with online marketing platforms it will be seen as a plus.

• You are a polymath with interests ranging from technology to finance, to digital marketing data. You love to learn and challenge yourself and can find motivation in digging down in data

• You thrive in a fast-paced environment but also enjoy the fact that Valerian nurtures and takes care of its team

• You have excellent interpersonal skills, a keen sense of humour and the capacity to not take things too seriously (especially yourself)

• You speak English, and it will be seen as an advantage if it is in combination with either French, Danish or another second language (preferred but not essential for this hire)
