Tech Team Lead with flair for IoT

Hi insert-your-name-here,

In our Engineering team in Trackunit, we’re looking for another fast paced, ambitious, informal, nerdy (whatever you define yourself as) colleague to join us.

Through this job ad, which we hope you in the end find interesting, we will turn things a bit upside down, because we know that the job market is super crazy at the moment. Obviously, we will guide you through the world of Trackunit, how we see things and why you should choose us from all the other exciting journeys out there (we’re a tiny bit biased though).

And if you can’t see yourself in the job when you have read through this, that’s totally fine as well - at least we figured that out before “wasting” each others time, right? But if you find it just a little bit intriguing, let’s have a chat, so we can get to know each other a bit better.

Let us give you some context - coming together to connect construction

In Trackunit, we’re committed to construction - one of the largest industries in the world. Over the past two decades, Trackunit has been pioneering technological progress within construction. Today. we are not only a leading IoT provider (Internet of Things) but a thought leader, supporting and driving the agenda for an entire industry on a global scale.

We believe in taking a people approach in everything we do. Being human-centric is not restricted to our products - it’s a way of life at Trackunit. We’re proud to be a truly global team that puts our people first. Our colleagues get together in hubs spread across the globe, but we embrace the idea of working remotely and in environments that inspire you. Everything we do, we do it to eliminate downtime and build the most useful industry for the world.

Why you should choose Trackunit

  • A place and a community in an agile growth SaaS business with a start-up mentality and with possibilities to grow internally in the company.

  • Great personal development opportunities through i.e. training, coaching, and mindfulness. I know that personal development probably means a lot to you - and it should! That’s as important to us and we facilitate it through impact conversations, where we together shape a learning path and 1:1’s with your manager.

  • International environment with regular check-ins with the whole company.

  • Social events across teams, departments and borders. Next up is our company trip to Italy this June - four days packed with fun, laughter, teambuilding, activities and much more!

  • Continuous learning of emerging technologies and industry trends.

We are looking for a new Team Lead to help support our growing engineering organization of 130+ engineers across different teams. You will be responsible for one of our engineering feature teams, where you will work in a close relationship with the product owner to help set the direction for your team.

As a person, you like that things are organized so that your team is achieving progress and flow while maintaining high standards. Your technical background and experience will help the team in design sessions and choosing the right path for the task.

With locations in the hearts of Copenhagen, Kolding, and Aalborg, we offer you a flexible setup with the possibility to work from one of our locations or remotely from anywhere in Denmark.

Every day is different, but you can expect to:

  • Lead a team responsible for developing, coding, testing and monitoring new software solutions or enhancements to existing software. You build it, you run it and you own it.

  • Facilitate the creation of complex new software features using industry best practices, and adhering to standards.

  • Keep a holistic overview of the project and thereby steer in the right direction and apply the right changes.

  • Run Standups, retrospectives, and planning with your team.

  • Facilitate stakeholder mangement by being transparent in the teamwork ongoing - this is done via e.g. product demos and story maps.

  • Work with other Team Leads and managers on cross-team projects locally and abroad.

  • You’re a people manager. You inspire, lead, and motivate team members to see their full potentials. You will do this through impact conversation (as mentioned previously also) and weekly 1:1’s, where you will touch base, provide and get constructive feedback.

  • Support the development process, including review of logs for errors after code deployment to all environments.

  • You help build a culture where “bad news travel fast” in order to secure that challenges are solved fast with the right people involved.

Who are you?

  • Experience in managing and technically leading a software development team of Software Engineers

  • Computer Science, Information Sciences, Software Development, or related degree might be your background - and we emphasize might be, as you can also very well be self-taught.

  • Foster an engineering mindset, relentlessly avoid toil and maintain high standards

  • Thrives in an agile and fast-paced environment.

  • You are used to taking responsibility in ensuring things to move forward.

  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.

What happens from here - overview of the recruitment process

The hiring process includes:

  • Meet and greet - likely on a virtual videocall. Here you will meet the hiring manager and a colleague from our People & Talents team, and we’re looking forward to it!

  • Personality based interview. You will be asked to fill out an online personality assessment (we use Hogan) prior to the interview. In the interview, you will first of all get feedback, but the aim is just as well to have a dialogue about what you thrive in, what we offer etc.

  • Assignment specific interview. Based on the learnings from the process you will be given a case to prepare. You will present the case to the hiring manager, a senior manager, relevant new colleagues and the People & Talents colleague. Preferably in person.

  • Offer presentation and walk through.

Working at
Trackunit

Welcome to the world of Trackunit - welcome to our human operating system! We consider The Trackunit Way and our leadership model as a competitive advantage. Leadership hasn’t changed that much in the last 100 years and many of the original dogmas are still in play and being used, despite the world we live in has changed dramatically within the same period of time. The way we work matters, and it has never been more important to focus on that to keep us relevant and competitive – that’s why we put our money on people, purpose, collaboration, belonging, and leadership. At Trackunit, we’re committed to construction - one of the largest industries in the world. It’s an industry of strong, hard-working people, building the infrastructure of our lives. An industry that used to be known for the cities it built and the landscapes it formed. For complex infrastructures and the rise of skyscrapers in unthinkable shapes and sizes. Construction enables each one of us to live better lives through safer roads and rails, modern hospitals and schools, offices and homes. But for too long, the industry has been known for blown-up budgets and schedules delayed by months. At Trackunit, we believe we can still do the impossible and rebuild the reputation of the industry. New technology has emerged, and today we know more than ever before. We build the services that enable construction to work smarter together and grow faster together. An industry that has long been the laggard of digital transformation is now at a tipping point. Change is happening. What impact are you going to make?
