MELLO is a start-up developing unique biotech solutions to enable functionality in food and drink. We’re about to start work on a novel encapsulation technique – for this I’m looking for an experienced scientist to co-develop together with Danish Technical Institute (DTI). Importantly, you need to be confident enough with your skills and ability to take project lead on behalf of MELLO and to bring project knowledge ‘in house’.

CANDIDATE QUALITIES:

A PhD or postdoc is important, with experience in encapsulation, preferably spray cooling and possibly probiotics. You should be able to bring knowledge and experience to the project while you work independently to push boundaries and find solutions that optimize outcome. Its important that you enjoy the entrepreneurial environment – you’ll have plenty of opportunity to influence MELLO’s journey, while hopefully also expanding your own knowledge and having loads of fun! Additionally, it will be a huge bonus if you’re able to (eloquently) present to potential investors and in front of an audience.

KEY SKILLS + RESPONSIBILITIES:

It is particularly important that you know how to work with encapsulation processes, preferably spray cooling. You should also ideally be skilled in powdered probiotics, lipid encapsulation materials and fortifying food and drinks.

Responsibility areas may include (but are not limited to):

• Identification of encapsulation materials.

• Development, viability and optimisation of micro-particles.

• Development of probiotic ‘unpacking’ / release profile at target location.

• Setting up and working with in-vitro modelling.

• Leading scientific development and strategy.

• Writing IP applications and scientific text.

• Presenting to investors and other audiences.
