Head of Operations

Salary Competitive

Volt is back! After two seasons where COVID has kept us away from festivals, we’re restarting the festival machine.

Volt is a dynamic company with a core office of 4-7 people, 10 festival coordinators, 100 team leaders, and +700 volunteers over the festival season. Volt is widely known from the power bank charging service but in reality, we’re supplying a range of other services on behalf of festivals and other brands.

The position

We seek a Head of Operations for our team. This role has the overall responsibility for our festival operations and will be the overarching link between the Event HR, Production, IT, and B2C Sales functions. The Head of operation is to help set, align and adjust project timelines and event budgets across.

Our Head of Operations will be the contact point for event and partner relations, ensuring both parties deliver as contracted. In the off-season, the dialogue with our partners will revolve around business development and further integrations.

The seasonality nature of the festival industry means that late winter and spring is focused on planning the festival operations, during summer we execute those plans. When the festival tsunami hits, we need to be prepared.

In the fall, our work is more strategic, and we can afford to have longer breaks and perhaps be working away from the office to compensate for the intense festival season. We evaluate how we optimize our operations and discuss the next projects with our partners.

Together with the CEO, you will be the engineer in designing how we implement new projects and business cases on the operations side.

The responsibility areas:

  • Align on strategy and operations budgets with CEO/board, and hereafter set in motion the needed operational plan with the team.

  • Maintain event and partner relations.

  • Be the daily go-to manager for the operations team, incl. setting up daily office structures etc.

  • Setting, aligning and adjusting the overall event execution timelines.

  • Integrating procedures for our onsite activities.

  • Maintain financial reporting from operations to the CEO/board.

  • Track performance of B2C pre-sales vs. marketing spend.

  • Co-engineer plans to solve incoming event projects, incl. the hiring of project managers etc.

You..

  • Are up for taking management responsibility in the restart of a company coming out of a long standby.

  • Preferably have or want to create a vision for a solid operations team, and will benefit from having experience with managing teams through projects with sharp deadlines,

  • Should probably be interested in the cross-field between business and operations management.

  • Prefer to maintain an overview by delegating tasks to your team but understand that the leader at times must go first on execution matter also

  • Should believe in ownership and that nothing is solely up to somebody else.

The perks:

  • You will be part of restarting, and thereby reshaping, a company with many traditions and legacies.

  • You will be involved with both strategic and executive processes.

  • You will see your planning and team unfold at a number of major festivals.

  • You can influence the future workings and results of the company that can/will connect to your future compensation.

  • Fall and winter activities can be somewhat flexible to fit your wants. You should absolutely be able to do that surfing course in Costa Rica.

Practicalities:

  • You will be working from Volt HQ in Nørrebro, Copenhagen.

  • Danish skills (written and spoken) are a big plus, but we evaluate each candidate individually based on an overview of their personality, experience, and their general fit for our company.

  • The position is full-time, but the workload will be more intense in the festival season during the summer.

  • The salary is competitive.

  • The expected start date is February or March 1st.
