At Donkey Republic we believe that sustainable mobility should be available to everyone. We do this by providing an affordable bike rental service across Europe in more than 70 cities. We work closely with cities and lawmakers to help transform cities into more livable places.
We are looking for an experienced iOS developer
Our native iOS and Android apps represent our most important customer touchpoints, and we work hard to create the best user experience. We expect you to be driven by the wish to give our riders a great experience. This involves understanding the rider's needs which you will work closely with our designer, PO, and developer to accomplish. You should be curious about new technologies and we expect you to be quick to adapt to new ways of doing things, but you should also have the ability to understand when a new technology isn’t a good investment in terms of helping our riders. At Donkey Republic you will not only work with making great UX/UI and service design, but you will also work with actual hardware. So if you are up for these challenges, Donkey Republic is the place for you.
What your job will be
You will team up with our skilled product team which consists of one more iOS developer, two Android developers, two backend developers, a Product Owner, and a UX Designer. We work closely together in the group to ship features fast, but each developer has a high degree of freedom in bringing their own solutions to the table. You and the lead iOS developer are solely responsible for bringing the iOS app to the market and ensuring high quality through code reviews and good testing. You will implement features, bug fixes and participate in design workshops on equal foot with the rest of the group.
Who you are
We expect you to have at least a few years of experience. You should be self-driven enough to take responsibility for the app, while also caring about the overall performance of the team. You should:
Have experience with developing apps integrated with a backend through a RESTful API.
Have a good knowledge of basic design patterns.
Have experience with source control, preferably Git.
Have experience with writing unit/integration tests.
Bonus points for:
Experience with more advanced concepts like reactive programming (e.g. RxSwift).
Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy.
Experience with continuous integration tools.
Having worked in a startup before.
Loving bikes - we surely do!
Super-extra-bonus points for:
Experience with screenshot testing.
Experience with Composable Architecture (https://github.com/pointfreeco/swift-composable-architecture) or other reducer-based patterns.
At the end of the day, we will pick you because you can prove to have brought apps to the market, enjoy testing things out, and are willing to risk that it might fail, prioritize teamwork over individual performance, and connect with the mission that we are on.
What we offer
A spot in the team of an inspiring startup, currently growing at a rapid pace.
A job where achieving our vision is as important as creating a bright future for each team member.
We enjoy mindful risk-taking, experimenting with features, getting things done fast, and seeing the results of our daily work out there in the real world, where we ultimately help people move easier and explore better - on two wheels.
We also offer a flexible work schedule, a collective of people that have lots of fun together, and a really cool office in central Copenhagen. Please note that there also is an opportunity to work remotely.
