Would you like to help pioneer a digital revolution in the biotech industry? Do you want to be part of a fast-growing biotech company bringing digitalization and machine learning into a huge market?
Freesense is digitizing the Bio-tech industry through IoT and machine learning. We have designed and manufactured innovative sensor devices that provide granular data our customers have never had access to before. Our in-house data scientists apply that data to industry-leading, purpose-built models to optimize complex fermentation processes.
We're in the final stages of building our software platform MVP, and have customers lined up to onboard when we launch our software later this year. Our strong roadmap and carefully groomed backlog will get us to that milestone and beyond, but there's still space to change things up - we need your help to guide the future of Freesense's technology offering, taking a leading technical role in our development process.
We want you to work closely with our remote development team (all our own guys, not just a faceless agency) to ensure our development goes according to plan! But don't worry, we have a talented software advisor that has been hands on in making sure the project has great standards and is something we can be proud to build. You'll also be working closely with our in-house data science team to bring their modeling code into our web app, with a view to helping them improve on handover processes and code quality.
This is a role with a technical leadership component, with the possibility of ownership of code and platform right now and a great opportunity for progression as we grow the team - we'll need a tech lead in the future, and we hope that could be you.
You should
Be evangelical about Python, and know the web ecosystem well - we are using Django and Celery, for example
Think TDD is an important tool in your toolbox, but know when to apply it and when the time trade-off isn't worth it
Know APIs, efficient data storage, and how to craft a high performance system like the back of your hand
Demonstrate your experience with relational (and maybe non-relational!) databases - we use PostgreSQL right now but are looking at more situational data stores
Be excited to be part of a DevOps culture - you can get stuck in where you're needed, not only writing API endpoints
Love having autonomy, but want to be part of the glue between the rest of the team - this role needs you to want to work with others!
Be driven to constantly ask how we're delighting our customers, and not want to build cool stuff just because it's cool
We'd love it if you
Have strong feelings on CI/CD pipelines and how to make sure software is reliable
Understand how to manage simple AWS and Heroku deployments
Think agile (small a!) is the way to go, and think Scrum is pretty good (but not perfect)
Have a clear sense of priority for what's important, and what can wait until later
Believe that communication is one of your strongest skills
What we offer
Competitive market salary and warrants
Flexible working hours
Possibility to work from home a few days a week
6 weeks vacation
Team activities - Friday bars, seasonal company parties, GoBoating, and more to come!
Technical and software training mentoring
Option for paid trip to an approved international conference (1 annually)
The boring stuff
You have full legal residence/working status in the EU and the ability to work in Denmark
You have fluent written and spoken English
More about Freesense:
Freesense is a Danish venture capital backed sensor-tech start-up founded in 2016 and based in Copenhagen. Freesense has developed a unique sensor sphere for data-based mapping of fermentation processes. The sensor sphere measures critical liquid parameters inside bioreactors during scale up and production, helping companies around the world better understand and optimize their production. We are currently a dedicated team of 15 people, with varying backgrounds ranging from hardware/software to fermentation engineering, and we are expanding.
We have the following process for hiring:
We will call you for a 30 minutes phone pre-screening interview
