Second Trend is building a community around a marketplace to inspire and empower consumers to think secondhand first. We are looking for passionate people that wants to help drive the secondhand agenda and join a team on a journey to build an awesome tech company, based in a marketplace for buying and selling secondhand lifestyle goods.

We are currently looking for inspiring people to both help us improve the platform as well as people wanting to build a secondhand community. You will join a journey to grow and push the recycling agenda, and your role will be to help us build and nurture a community of secondhand enthusiasts.

The team has already built a foundation with a great app and experience, allowing its community to buy and sell its items. The next step of the journey is growing our community of second-hand enthusiasts, defining our brand, and driving the recycling agenda. We are looking for someone to share that journey with us, ideally someone with passion and drive for leading a team and passion for secondhand. The candidate should be eager to take responsibility in growing the platform and helping run the company, and will partake in the ownership of the company.


Primary responsibilities

The position is initially broad, as it will be tailored to the candidate, and quickly develop to fit with the journey. Some of the overall responsibilities related to the position does however include:

  • Guide the strategic direction for the company on business matters such as go-to-market strategy, marketing, pricing, and brand.

  • Define the vision for the company’s brand and execute on achieving that vision, through marketing, content, PR, and more.

  • Explore new channels for marketing and sales, including engaging in dialogues with key players in the industry such as secondhand outlets, online sellers and influencers.

  • Analyze current marketing channels and help set the general direction for campaigns, SEO, and optimizing user acquisition.

  • Lead the marketing and design team in Copenhagen, including defining resource requirement, leading team resources and efforts.

 The role will initially include tasks related to the above and will naturally develop to fit best with the candidate. As such, we expect the role to develop with the key competencies of the candidate and expect to supplement with additional resources where needed.


About the setup

Second Trend launched its marketplace a few months ago and has seen growing interest from the secondhand community. The current team has developed the app to a market-ready state but now needs growth and leadership competencies to take it further. Your role will be to help lead the Copenhagen team, growing the platform and the experience.

We expect a high amount of passion and drive, from someone who would run the business as their own. In return, we offer a position with limitless development potential, a competitive salary as well as ownership in the company.


Expected profile

As a growth manager, you will be assuming a similar role to that of a co-founder in the company. You will be working increasingly independently as you grow in the position. We imagine that the ideal candidate would possess all or most of the following qualities: 

  • Fluent in both Danish and English, as the development team is based outside of Denmark.

  • A deep passion for sustainability, fashion, and the secondhand movement.

  • Great ambitions for yourself and for what the brand can become.

  • A hunter attitude of proactively approaching new opportunities, preferably with experience from outbound sales or marketing.

  • Growth mindset of wanting to build something unique and significant, making a real impact in multiple countries and multiple markets.

  • A positive and optimistic outlook, who can often perceive new opportunities

  • Clear and outgoing communicator

  • Great people skills, a team player, and someone who thrives on collaborating

  • Endurance and stamina to withstand potential challenges that may arise

  • Preferably either:

    • Experience with developing or running an eCommerce site or app-based business

    • Marketing and/or leadership skills from a prior management position

    • Prior career from within the fashion industry or secondhand experience

We’re building the future of secondhand together and we are therefore looking for multiple candidates alongside this to strengthen the team. The company is funded by Promentum Equity Partners and Tag Holding, providing ample funding to execute on our shared vision.

We are located in the center of Copenhagen. We are flexible in terms of working location, although with a preference towards being able to be physically available at our offices.
