Software Developer - Student Job

Today it takes several days to measure and quantify bacteria whether you wish to know the quality of your drinking water, the number of bacteria in a fermentation process, or the number of bacteria on the equipment in the operating room of a hospital. Our team at SBT has invented an electrically based detection technology for measuring bacteria within a few minutes. We are looking for a student that wants to work with ground-breaking technology in a team of people with a wide array of skills.

About SBT Instruments

SBT was established in 2014 as a spin-out from the Technical University of Denmark. Today, the company employs 12 people, has acquired two patents (recently filed for a third), has one product on the market and another product that is soon to be launched. Bacteria measurements are relevant in many different applications, but our current main market is found within the biotech industry, where we sell our first product, BactoBox. We are partly owned by the Ellab-Fonden, a Danish commercial foundation that supports important and impactful social, humanitarian, and research projects.

The Job

As a student helper your primary task will be developing the software for our real-time bacteria sensor used primarily in the Biotech industry. Your job will affect every layer of our software stack. From the digital signal processing and bacteria detection, to the business logic and UI on the sensor as well as browser applications communicating with the sensor over network connections. You will be involved in both the theoretical software design and the practical implementation. The job is 10–20 hours a week. The office is located in Herlev.

Your Qualifications

You are currently a student at KU/DTU/ITU and studying computer science, software engineering, software development, or similar, and preferably have at least one year of your studies remaining. You must be structured in your approach to software development and be ready to take on unfamiliar tasks. We pride ourselves on being generalists that are willing to learn new subjects, techniques and technologies. Concrete experience with the following is an advantage:

  • Python

  • Modern C++

  • Typescript (Vue.js, Angular)

Apart from these specific tools, our work involves a number of subjects where experience is also beneficial:

  • Embedded systems and Linux

  • Network programming (REST, Websockets)

  • Concurrent programming (coroutines, threads)

  • Numerical programming/Simulation/Statistics

Experience with all of the above is certainly not required, but a curious mind and willingness to learn is!

We Offer

You become a part of a motivated team with an informal culture where you will help us to achieve our mission and make the bacteria measurements available to everyone, everywhere. You will be part of one of the leading start-up companies in Denmark and you can regularly pick the brains of the team behind SBT Instruments, which will strengthen your professional profile and CV. The hourly wage is DKK 170. In addition, we offer:

  • Lunch and free coffee, tea, soda, fruit

  • Free Friday bar and other social arrangements

  • Cozy workplace with nice colleagues and informal communication

Your Application

Application, grades, and CV must be addressed to Jonatan Midtgaard.

The deadline is 1/8-2021.
