Data Scientist – deliver state-of-the-art sales and capacity forecasting to the retail and food-service industries

Your role in the Company 

As a Data Scientist at SameSystem you will become a member of a cross-functional squad with a vision to continuously deliver the best sales and capacity forecasting within the Workforce Management space for the retail and food-service industries. You will work with state-of-the-art algorithms and build predictive models to generate forecasts and deliver recommendations on how clients can optimize their workforce schedule. You showcase your business and econometrics skills when designing your research approach and delivering data-based insights to product owners and top management at SameSystem. 

Your responsibilities will be: 

• Short-term and long-term forecasting of retail and foodservice sales, transaction size, and visitor flows on daily and even hourly level. 

• Generating recommendations for staffing demands and shift optimization, based on shop and employee characteristics, visitor, and sales dynamics.  

• Evaluating employee performance and providing business recommendations based on it to create optimization recommendations for our clients work schedule.  

To achieve this, you will be looking at different types of client data such as sales, foot trafic, returns and much more. Furthermore, you will be working on complex causal inference problems and develop best practices to share with your colleagues in the Data Science Chapter. Throughout, you will be supported by and work alongside our software engineering and data engineering teams to build features powered by your data science work. 

Your profile 

You have a technical profile with a great understanding of business requirements, making you capable of communicating with both technical and non-technical colleagues. We imagine you having a MSc or higher in mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or other quantitative field. You have a passion for problem solving, trying to enhance the product and enjoying being involved everywhere in the processes when building new features. You have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Data Scientist, Data Analyst or another analytical role. Furthermore you have experience with the following: 

• Solid programming and scripting skills in Python, R, Scala or similar. 

• Hands-on experience with Machine Learning setups & architecture. 

• Advanced understanding of modelling and hands-on application of predictive modelling, data mining and data manipulation techniques. 

• You have good knowledge of unit and integration testing, version control. 

We are an international team for which it is imparative that you are highly proficient in writing and speaking English. Prefereably you also have experience from Software-as-a-Service or retail-related businesses. For technical experience knowledge of Python, time series forecasting libraries, software-development, database architecture design and code reviews are also preferred.

Office and work hours  

We trust you, and thus you are able to work remotely and manage your own work hours. However, we like to work together, so we hope to see you at our office, where there is catering and snacks.  

This position is available from our office in Denmark or Lithuania.  

Denmark: You will be working at our new office in the creative and upcoming area of Copenhagen NW. The location will be at Rentemestervej 2a, 2400 Kbh NV. The office has space for more unformal meetings with possibilities for hosting creative inspirational processes and workshops together with your team and equipped with an activity room designed for small brakes during the day.  The office is within walking distance of Nørrebro station and metro and with car parking. 

Lithuania: The office is located in Park Town at Lvovo g. 105A, Vilnius with access to parking. The office give you plenty of ways to unplug and catch a breath. If are you stuck on a particular difficult case, maybe a game of table tennis is what you need? We provide gym membership and monthly allocations for improvement of your workday. Furthermore, you get to be part of an international environment with business trips to Denmark and conferences all around Europe together with your team.
