As we are growing fast, we're looking for an experienced Spatial and Interior Architect who is passionate about designing the future of living with us. You will be joining as we are about to start work on the next generation of our coliving concept - taking our learnings of operating coliving and working directly with our real estate partners to build the ideal coliving concept at scale. 


You will be representing the physical design voice within LifeX and will be responsible for space design, furniture and furnishings based on amongst other criteria; cost benefit analysis, longevity and timeless design and best member experience. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the space in an apartment or building is laid out and utilized in the most efficient way, both from a strategic and execution perspective and that the furniture arrangement and styling fulfills our practical and operational requirements as well as supports our mission to make anyone feel at home anywhere in the world. Along with that, you will be collaborating on new concept development which includes everything from understanding the project plans, timelines, working on design projects from concept to implementation of the interior design with the real estate and setup team as primary partners. You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and execute, from creating 3D renderings to simply taking measurements, basically enjoy wearing multiple hats in the physical product world.


In this role you will be reporting directly to the co-founder and CPO of LifeX, giving you a solid foundation of owning the physical product experience and providing value from day one. You will be asked to present your research and concept both internally and to real estate development partners and work alongside their team on implementation guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Be the voice and the owner of physical product design decisions at LifeX

  • Responsible for design guidelines and setup manual at LifeX 

  • Design floor plans from ground up with the LifeX family style concept as well as mixed use buildings 

  • Create space plans of the bedrooms and shared areas of apartments based on design guidelines and furniture inventory. 

  • Create 3D renderings, which can be used as marketing material with more real estate partners and LifeX users. 

  • Research and development around what's the best coliving space design based on external best practices and on internal data around current member experience with apartment functionalities

  • Manage collaborations with various furniture partners as new LifeX concepts are implemented

  • Attend trade shows and be up to speed on the latest around design concepts

  • Continuously improving the design and functionality of a LifeX home by choosing the right furniture and accessories. 

  • Own the relationship with furniture designers and suppliers

  • Drive LifeX more towards its sustainability goals by constantly evaluating different material and design choices

Experience

  • Master s Degree in Architecture required

  • 3-5 years of experience as architect; portfolio of built and published references

  • Professional experience in multi-family residential design or hospitality is required

  • Proficiency in Sketch, Rhino, Autocad, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign required

  • Knowledgeable about or able to identify local housing rules and regulations in designing floor plans for the Co-Living framework 

  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to take initiatives on research, testing and challenging the current design for living

  • Strong organizational skills, able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and budget time amongst various projects

  • Strong interest in Nordic living values for interior design including furniture and facades 

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple teams
