Founded in 2019, our company was named after one of the most extraordinary animals on the planet–the platypus. Only in the right environment can the platypus come into existence, develop and thrive. Marketing at Platypus

The Marketing team at Platypus can be described as a construction site at the moment 🚧 . It's very much in development. All marketing activities are carried out in collaboration between our content specialist, sales team, and product team. We would like to evolve our cross-team collaboration structure by bringing in someone who can add an innovative marketing perspective. You will get to shape, develop, and implement our marketing strategy and work on increasing brand awareness, establishing product positioning, and propelling customer growth.


🔍 What we're looking for

Your core function at Platypus will be to identify and set up marketing channels, solutions and ideas, that would fill up the top funnel and effectively drive new customer acquisition. You will be setting the long-term cross-channel marketing direction by building, delivering, and leveraging learnings for highly tailored, individualized messaging aligned to our customer's needs on channels that matter most for the business.

You think strategically, but also are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get to work. We are all self-starters at Platypus and we expect you to be the same. We're looking for a T- Shaped colleague - meaning: you are savvy in many marketing disciplines, but master at least two of them.

In terms of previous experience, ideally, you've been in a similar role before, we don't mind if it's 1 or 10+ years. We are far more interested in your mindset and ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate strategies and growth hacks to get the word about Platypus out.

  • Find, test, and optimize marketing channels to ignite and fuel Platypus’s growth and revenue.

  • Own and find ways to provide a steady stream of B2B inbound MQL’s by zeroing in on the prospect's needs and providing the right content at the right time.

  • Build email capturing and nurture campaigns to support leads in arriving at the buying decision faster.

  • Find new growth initiatives to attract prospects and convert them to leads.

  • Be data-driven, explore what works and what doesn’t, and identify opportunities for future marketing campaigns.

This role offers multiple progression paths. It will entail a mix of product, performance, comms, and brand marketing, therefore it's ideal for someone who is a natural generalist, hasn't decided what they want to specialise in, or wants to explore new areas in marketing.

Did you know that when a (stuffed) platypus was brought to the British Museum in 1799 the director of the museum concluded that it must be an elaborate joke? An egg-laying mammal with a beak!
