UX/UI Designer for Plant Jammer

Plant Jammer uses Artificial Intelligence and Gastronomic algorithms to create dynamic and customized recipes. We originally started off as a B2C company with our app "Plant Jammer" (+1 mio downloads) but are now working towards becoming a SaaS B2B company. We work with brands wanting to encourage their end-users to eat in a more sustainable fashion, eg. by making use of the resources they have at home to stop food waste. We're a start-up of 18 employees and we're now looking for our next design hire. Our small design team of one, is looking for an addition to create a new and innovative design process within the company. Are you up for the challenge?

Your role

We're a small company (18 full time) with several projects running in parallel, therefore you'll jump across the various projects where you can apply your design skills. You will work closely with product managers, developers and one other designer. We strive to work as user-centric as possible, which means continuous involvement of our customers and end-users. You will be a part of the whole design process, starting from scratch with a "simple" problem-statement all the way to a final product. You'll carry out common UX-design tasks such as:

  • Plan and conduct user research

  • Interpret data and qualitative feedback

  • Create user journey maps and personas

  • Determine information architecture and create user flows

  • Create prototypes and wireframes

  • Conduct usability testing

We acknowledge that research, design, and UX are usually spread into multiple roles in large companies, but we are looking for a person with wide experience and also see this as an opportunity to have an exciting and diverse job where you get to own design processes end-to-end.

Do you have grit?

Working at Plant Jammer means you have to be flexible and constantly on your toes. You'll experience a lot of sudden changes, and be able to adapt to this. We're looking for someone that can collaborate but also work independently, you take your own initiative and work pro-actively. We don't expect you to know everything, we learn and grow together so that one day we'll have a superhero design team. Currently, we're testing out new ways of working, and we'd love for you to help us find the best design process for us at Plant Jammer.

Requirements / Experience level

  • At least 1-2 years full time experience in the UX/UI field (important!)

  • At least BSc. level degree in a relevant field

  • You have already been part of an end-to-end design process, from research phase to implementation. You have experience with this from a professional setting (i.e. beyond university/educational projects).

Additional bonus points if you:

  • Turn to Figma whenever in doubt

  • Have experience from one or several start-ups

What we offer:

We welcome you to work in a fast-paced, inspiring startup with an important vision. We're ready to give you the space it takes to take ownership of our user's experience. We also offer options for remote work several days during a normal 37 hr work week. We are open and honest, and put a lot of energy into building an amazing company.

  • Our salary budget for this role is 30-35K DKK (we can't afford you beyond this budget - we are a startup)

  • Office located by the lakes in Copenhagen (once we're back, hopefully soon)

  • A work computer

Our values:

  • Perspective: We work for something important: Getting 1bn people to eat differently. However, we don't take ourselves too seriously - say no to ego and yes to playfulness!

  • Hungry: We are hungry for new learnings, and we vow to challenge our own mental models every day.

  • Openness: We are open about our own fears, concerns, and insecurities in-front of the team... even when we don't have a fully articulated reason or rationale. Why? We believe being open about things adds to the pool of meaning, leading to better solutions.

  • Connected: We spend significant individual smart resources on giving transparency to what we do. Why? We believe giving context to our fellow jammers will empower them to help themselves and us better.

Working at
Plant Jammer

Plant Jammer promotes healthy eating, reduced food waste and learning in the kitchen. Our technology makes it easy and quick to create a dish that's new, delicious and matches the ingredients you have in front of you. We turn the classic recipe book upside down - so you don't have to go shopping for that one missing herb every time you want to cook. The Plant Jammer app now helps more than 300.000 users to solve daily problems in a way nothing else can. On top of that, we built an API and SaaS product that makes it easy for food brands and retailers to publish our unique recipe experiences on their sites. We're located in Copenhagen with a view of the lakes, at Sortedams Dossering 59. We share lunch every day, eat breakfast together once a week, and share random knowledge we're passionate about once a week at 'Brain Jams'. Dogs are welcome in the office and we're generally borderline hippies. The roles described on our job posts are the roles we need to fill, but we encourage taking initiative for growth within the team as we expand and learn. Our team consists of equal parts food geeks and tech geeks, most of us are both. The education and training combines McKinsey business acumen, Novozymes science, hardcore computer and data science, UC Berkeley nutritional science and more. We come from all kinds of backgrounds spanning most of Europe and beyond, so we welcome diversity of all types. Are you ready to find out more?
