A few words about Excelerate

1 in 5 academics does not have a job 1 year after graduation and 1 in 6 is working in a job they are overqualified for. That's straight-up just not good enough.

Too many bright graduates are not achieving their dreams, but we are here to make it happen. Therefore, we have built a platform where students can list their thesis topic and companies can find the right student group for the perfect thesis collaboration match.

Excelerate is in the early days of the startup journey. We launched our platform in October 2020 and our blog in February 2021.

We have a great marketing team focusing on social media, PR and offline marketing, and we are in total 5 employees.

Our need

I need someone who is ready to take charge of our technical setup. I will not tell you what tools to use, quite frankly, I do not know what would be the be choice. But I know what we, together, must achieve; To build the god damn best matching algorithm.

That takes time and that it is not a project, but a constant strive towards perfection. You will be at the centre of this, developing, managing and leading.

ALSO, we have an external company that handles DevOps and classic web development. Whether or not they will remain to do so, is completely up to what we think, together, is the best setup.

Tech stack

I know, I know.. you want to know about our tech stack; but just before we get to that, let me just that we launched October 2020, with a beta platform that can do all the essentials, such as: signup, creation of a thesis, list thesis topics, companies can request a meeting, confirm collaboration and payment. Just to highlight that we are not starting from scratch, but it is a beta platform.

We are using Firebase to handle the data, Vue.js to present that data, GitHub, Digital Ocean, WordPress (for the marketing site) and MailChimp.  

I am tech agnostic, but I am very goal orientated; if you can argue that we need to change one thing or the other, and it aligns with time, money and outcome, then I am all for it.

Let’s get down to business. We are not in a position to splash a whole lot of cash, unfortunately. However, what we can offer is:

• Flexible working hours, but working from the office most days would be preferred (in non-corona times).

The office language is English and the knowledge of Danish is not required for the position. Anyone who shares the passion for tech and believes in the idea is welcome to apply. This job is non-remote, so you must be a Greater Copenhagen resident. Ideally, you would start tomorrow, but right after your exams in May is also great :)
