Lead Back-end Developer (potential CTO) for fast-moving SaaS start-up in Denmark
2021 will be the break-through year of Servicelovers. We have been at it for 6 years now and face a number of mega customers, backed by a newly closed funding round and senior business people joining our board.
We are based in Copenhagen and we are on a fast growth track.
We need to up the game.
Our ambitions and potential new international mega clients are placing large technical requirements on us, so we need to bring our SaaS platform “to the next level”.
The Role
We are looking for a Lead Developer and potential CTO to take responsibility for our platform.
The Servicelovers platform is a SaaS solution used by large retailers and restaurants in Denmark and abroad. It consists of a back-end with an API to different front-ends (mainly a web frontend and some mobile/tablet front-ends).
Our current stack is:
- Node JS
- React
- Webfront-end:
- Mobile front-ends: React Native (these are developed off-shore)
Until now all development has been outsourced to a partner in Pakistan, led by product management out of Copenhagen. We want to in-source the technical lead (and longer term hire more developers in Denmark). We will continue working with outsourcing, mainly on our front-end clients (mobile and web).
We need a Lead Engineer in our Copenhagen office, to take the lead on developing and improving our platform, with a main focus on the back-end, as our front-ends (mobile and web) continue to be developed and maintained off-shore. You could potentially one day be our CTO/head of engineering.
You will be working out of Copenhagen, alongside a small team consisting of a part time customer support specialist (who helps develop our customers and handles issues from clients) a graphical designer. And we will be looking for a new product manager (who defines user stories, etc.). And then a very active and involved CEO and a board chairman, who are both involved in sales, setting the product direction and removing obstacles, so that development can move fast.
You will be managing a team of 2-3 developers off-shore.
You will take the lead on the overall architecture of our entire platform.
You will take over the coding of the back-end (potentially some coding outsourced)
You will own our code and code versioning setup, etc.
You will play a key role in QA.
And you will drive DevOps until we find a way to potentially outsource this.
One of the most imminent challenges is to move our current platform (Ruby on Rails, native apps) to AWS cloud computing service for scalability, and to revamp part of the architecture for enterprise scalability, security, integration, etc.
Your profile/background:
- Experience from building scalable enterprise software, including APIs with multiple different front-ends
- Documented experience with Node JS and React
- Experience with cloud setups
- Business oriented team player
- Creative thinker
- Likes to work in a small team
- Takes full responsibility, team player
- Fluent in English, good communication skills
