Donkey Republic is a software and hardware bike-share provider active across Europe with its own city operations as well as supplying partners with vehicles and software to operate their own fleet.
We are continuously improving our fleet of rental bikes and ebikes, and are now looking for an ebike / bike hardware developer, who will be responsible for development of our future vehicles and other hardware products.
As part of the development process, you will work with our users and B2B customers, to specify needs and together with hardware design and engineering teams transform them into products. Once a spec is ready you will hand over to supply chain for ordering of the bikes.
You are able to communicate visually, both using hand-sketches and softwares, interpret needs and make priorities based on observations and interviews with stakeholders, as well as coordinate with external partners and suppliers.

Can act as the link between Donkey and external hardware designers and engineers
Can conduct quality assurance and develop such procedures for our supplier handling
Understand material properties and production processes
Are creative yet structured, and have the ability to ensure development processes stay on track and timelines are met.
Enjoy being hands on with solutions. You do not shy away from visiting hardware stores to get the things you need to build your own test setup or prototype when this is required to get a quick feel for a direction.
Have intermediate-advanced skills in Autodesk or similar software and an ability to work with 3D files, incl. rendering.
Are able to travel (~20 travel days/year)
Your background:
You have a degree as a mechanical engineer or similar - or you may be self-taught and can document how you have successfully applied your skills in previous projects or companies.
A minimum of 3-5 yrs of professional experience.
You like to build things in your spare time. Both 3D printing, but also using other manufacturing processes.
You have some experience running hardware development projects, which preferably includes use of engineering and design software products
Your experience with bikes is a nice to have - other comparable experiences will also be highly valued
