Donkey Republic is a software and hardware bike-share provider active across Europe with its own operations as well as being a supplier to partners who operate their own fleet.
We are looking for a junior project manager , with bachelor-level or equivalent experience, to set up a process on how best to handle bikes and ebikes when they reach end-of-service. This project is expected to last 6 months.
The Donkey bikes can serve 4-5 years out on the streets before we replace them with newer models. During the bike replacement, we need a reliable way to pass on, recycle or safely dispose of the 1.000s of bikes that every year reach end-of-service. It has to be reliable in the sense that we need a process that can be repeated year after year.
It will be your responsibility to investigate different end-of-service options including:
Selling bikes B2B to wholesale-buyers that focus on 2nd hand bike-sales.
Setup with a bike assembler to disassemble Donkey bikes and use high-value components for new bikes. Other components to be recycled or disposed of in an appropriate way.
Upgrade bikes so they can last another 4-5 years out on the streets.
Other options that have a social dimension, e.g. institutions or people with special skills to be involved in disassembly or similar.
…other options?
Together with the operations team at Donkey Republic, you will develop a business plan to guide the decision process.
