Business development intern/student position

At WordPay, a Copenhagen-based fin-/mediatech, we seek a driven and structured student or intern to assist the core team in a range of areas.

About the position 

You’ll be part of a team of 7 colleagues in Copenhagen, and supporting our development team in India. As well as connecting with our experienced advisors in Sweden and the United States. Our office in Copenhagen is composed of UX’ers, front-end developers, founder-team, sales, and operations. You’ll work closely with our founders, operations and sales, and support in different ways. 

About us 

Our mission is to make quality journalism accessible for all. We give users the ability to access articles behind the digital paywall through a 1-click solution, that facilitates user payment and access to journalistic content. This happens through our immersive software widget that appears for the user while they visit our media partners’ sites. 

For our media partners, we provide the digital tools and data to drive new revenue and increase conversions. We are launching our software product among a group of media companies in Sweden in the winter/spring of 2021. Stalk us on LinkedIn or at wordpay.io.

The ideal candidate is 👋

Curious by nature, adaptable, and resourceful to take on new types of assignments, which you can work on independently. You are willing to grow with the company and take on more responsibility as we launch our product and expand.

We imagine you are at the end of your bachelor studies or beginning master studies, and perhaps have 1-2 years of work experience in a student position. Ideally from a larger organization, where you have gotten a feel for how big companies think and operate. Experience from the media/publishing sector is an advantage, but not a requirement. 

Your studies may be in the social sciences, business, economics, or be interdisciplinary. You are very comfortable in English both in writing and speaking. Fluency in Swedish is a plus.

You see yourself as a generalist that can span and help out in different parts of the organization, but passionate about growing into a more set role with time, that aligns with what type of tasks and interests you are very best at. (This could be within product development, operations, marketing, communications, media commercial strategy, sales, and account management). 

Type of assignments 

Our goal is to match you with the types of tasks that give you energy. For now, some of the core assignments we see our new student/intern could assist us with, are:

• Supporting our sales team with research and presentations. 

• Participating in calls, taking notes, to-dos, and driving follow-ups. 

• Drafting updates and blog-posts on our marketing and communications channels.

• Ad hoc research and internal knowledge hand-over.

• Assisting in user support.

• Ad hoc administrative tasks. 

What you’ll get out of it 

• We are still small enough that you will get an invaluable all-around view of the different elements required in building a technology company and software product.

• Experience with user-driven, agile, product development, that will be valuable in your future career in either other startups, corporate or governmental innovation environments.

• Become a wizard 🧙 in many of the modern tools that allows work to get done in organizations today (such as, monday.com, the MS Office Package, Confluence, JIRA, Slack, and Figma).

• With time, get client exposure and attain experience in interacting with clients and stakeholders.

• An in-depth understanding of the commercial challenges publishers are facing. If you have an academic interest in this field, there will be opportunities to attain data for your master project, in which we will be happy to support you to this end.

Practicalities

• We are seeking 1-2 interns or students. Start by 1st of April.

• Please mark whether you will be able to dedicate yourself full time (37 hours/week) as an intern, or part-time as an intern or student position. Both are valued. 

• The internship position is set to 3-6 months. 

• A full-time internship will be paid 1.000 euro/month (if possible with the rules and guidelines from your educational institution). Student positions will be paid competitively on an hourly basis. We offer a salary package that includes equity after 4 months of employment (or end of internship). 

• The work will take place as a mix of our office and home office, with respect to covid restrictions.
